Some Ideas for Natural Skin Treatments

Not many people know this but the skin is the largest organ in your body. And the skin isn't just staying there... it is always renewing and repairing itself continuously. And the dead skin is eliminated to prevent a build up and blockage that prevents the skin from breathing and releasing the toxins within your body in the form of sweat.

But there are many issues with skin. From dry, chapped skin to oily skin. There are tons of health products that are put out to market but are they truly a wonderful, miracle as the marketers claim? Maybe not.

This is why I decided to write a little about the natural skin treatments that you can try... and resources that you can check out either at your library or at your favorite book store for natural recipes that you can make at home that will be cheaper and more healthier than the skin care products sold at stores.

Now we are know that oily skin is the main culprit of acne. Especially for the teenagers. And dry skin happens as we get older. But if you take a little time to educate yourself about your own body... and learn how to take care of it, such as your skin. Then there is no reason on the green Earth that you cannot be as gorgeous... every single day the golden light brightens up the world.

But let's tackle one skin issue at a time. For instance, facial skin which is probably the most visible part of our body and the one that has the most complaints. And facial skin can be dry and wrinkled due to aging to oily due to hormones and diet.

Another thing about your face is that it is continuously exposed to the elements... from the hot sun to the cold winter winds. So it is no wonder that the skin surrounding the face can change more than the skin elsewhere on your body.

Natural Dry Skin Therapy

Dry Skin TherapyAs many facial and skin products that are on the market... there are also alternative, natural treatments that you can make yourself. Fortunately, the secrets of making your own home remedy for treating skin can be found inside of many well written books about the subjects.

I love going to Amazon.com for my information and research because many times... all you have to do is type what you are looking for and isolate the exact subject and category of products that you are looking for. And the most valuable tool that I find on Amazon is the users' ratings of the books. They are voting with their pocketbooks since they bought and read the book. And theses users won't be afraid to tell you if the book doesn't meet their expectations. This is why I never buy anything on Amazon.com unless it has at least several comments and at least 4 star rating.

But this is just me. However, I do suggest that you look over the comments [both negative and positive] to get a general feeling of what folks think about the books.

I did digress here... so back to natural skin therapy. You may be surprised to find that many of the natural home remedies that you can make... are way cheaper than the skin care products that you buy at the department stores. And for a very good reason. You are NOT paying for the marketing, pretty packaging and nonsense that comes along with promoted skin care products.

And I believe that many products many not tell you of the harmful chemicals and additives inside. So this is definitely another good reason to try the more natural skin therapies because you will know EXACTLY what you put together from a recipe.

Natural Skin Therapies to Try

Natural Skin TherapyI will tell you a few of the more popular home remedies for common skin complaints. But keep in mind... you need to determine for yourself whether to follow them. Some ingredients and suggestions may not work for you:

  • For those who suffer from chapped and dry skin... you may want to try a saline bath. Just add about 6 pounds of rock salt or table salt to a warm bath. This natural skin treatment can also be used for relief of dry and itchy skin. And just soak yourself for about twenty minutes. Put on some soft music and perhaps light a lavender oil candle too. After your bath... rub yourself down with some olive oil or almond oil.

  • Another natural method to help your skin repair itself is to promote the humidity if your home uses central heat. Because that heating system can dry the air and dry your skin and make it harder for your skin to repair the damaged skin cells. And to do this... you can try using a home humidifier to add water into the air.

  • For those who have an issue of dry and chapped skin... the main culprit could be store-bought soap. You could try using a mixture of flour and cream to clean your skin instead of that soap which may have harsh chemicals and additives that is harming your skin.

  • Some say that virgin coconut oil or virgin coconut butter is the best natural moisturizer to rub into your skin. For those of you who unfortunately stayed out in the sun too long... and your skin is blistered and peeling... try cutting up a Aloe Vera leaf and rubbing that green gel onto the afflicted areas of your skin.

  • Wrinkles are awful. And the one way to avoid them is to avoid staying out in the sun too long. You can use sun screen but look for a good one that is good for your skin. You can drink green tea which is a powerful anti-oxidant to remove the free radicals and hopefully reduce the amount of wrinkles too.

  • There is something that you can try at nighttime before turning in. Try some evening primrose oil supplements to increase the moisture content in your skin and strengthen the skin cells too. You could try making a mask of fine chopped almonds and egg whites. Apply the paste to your face and when it is dry... gently remove the mask with water.

  • The next idea I have is to dab whisked egg whites under your eyes to reduce the wrinkles. Oder free castor oil can be applied under the eyes and on your throat too. This is a great moisturizer to try out for yourself.

  • Lastly, I suggest that you maintain a moderate workout plan and drink plenty of water and eat sensibly. There is no magic bullet when it comes to staying at peak health and vitality. It is doable and unfortunately... this is the last thing people try... so if this is an area of your life that needs a little attention... get started right away. After all... life is too short to waste!

I hope this article will give you a sense of what you can try to make your skin more supple and attractive. The key of course is to use natural alternative methods that doesn't use harsh chemicals and additives.

Good luck in your quest,

Kate
