Thank you for all this info, and for another great lens. I already use white vinegar for cleaning, but I can't wait to try some of these other ideas.

There's a lot to be said for getting toxic chemicals out of our homes. I use many natural cleaning agents like baking soda, vinegar, and "Bon Ami" (powdered feldspar) because that's what I learned when I was young. The added benefit of saving money is a blessing, too.

Dear badmsm, I thought I'd try to connect the two of you, since you both could contribute to each others' work. Check out sidther (I read her lenses on Autism and Special Needs and Schools): http://www.squidoo.com/lensmasters/sidther

Oh, I just happened to stumble across you from ChrisDay's page and I absolutely agree, natural cleaning products are cheaper, better for the environment, better for pets/people and also recommended for those with asthma, COPD, etc. Also, I am going to mention this great article to another lensmaster (I just met) sidther and would like to feature you (and this lens) on my Part II of 'Squidoo people with a good heart' lens. (You can earn up to 390 points too, in my first one). Hope it helps, just love to see healthy products being promoted (even better, make your own). BIG like, lensrolled and favorited.
    Take Good Care,
    Rose

I have a problem with asthma, so I can't use many of the store bought cleaners--not if I want to breath! I make my own laundry soap, and thanks to this lens, I will be making my own dishwashing detergent, too! Thanks!
