Natural Cures for Acid Reflux

The acid reflux disorder is a disorder that many people suffer from in today's world. Many people who experience a burning sensation behind their breatsbone or in their stomach just accept the pain as it were something they have to live with. You can eleviate and even cure this condition with simple home remedies.

Acid Reflux

If you have made it to this page, then I don't need to explain Acid Reflux, GERDS or heartburn to you. We all know that there are numerous prescription and over the counter remedies for these conditions. What I have found is that they are overpriced, uneffective and contain chemicals that I prefer not to put into my body. I have put together a list of natural and home remedies that work as good or better than the drugs. I have not personally tried ALL of these remedies, but I am sure you will find at least one that works for you.

Natural and Home Remedies for Acid Reflux

Apple Cider Vinegar is one of the most favored remedies for acid reflux. Mix 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar into a glass of water and drink. This is effective for overnight relief as well if drank before bed.

Aloe Vera Juice is another common remedy. You can use fresh aloe by picking a small piece of the plant, peel the skin off, add to water, add throw it in the blender. Not only does this help with the acid reflux, it gives you added energy throughout the day. You can also purchase aloe vera juice at you local GNC store.

Apples are also very effective for eliminating the pain associated with acid reflex. This one is as old as they get, an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Baking Soda is a known remedy as well. Just add 1/2 tsp baking soda to 4 oz of water and drink before bed.

Chamomile Tea has numerous other benefits as well. This is one of natures power houses. You can use store bought chamomile tea or make your own by simply seeping the dry herbs in boiling water for about 5 minutes, sweetening with honey and drinking. And since we already mentioned it,
Honey also helps alleviate the pain associated with acid reflux. Simply eat a teaspoon of natural honey at the onset of symptoms.

Fruit Juice blended into a smoothie will also help the burn. Choose your fresh fruits and mix in the blender for a cooling, healthy remedy.

Almonds can be eaten to help as well. Eat one handful of almonds to eliminate the pain at the onset of heartburn.

Mustard by the teaspoonful. Eat one teaspoonful of plain yellow mustard at the onset of pain. This is the regular mustard that you put on hotdogs. This is said to eliminate all pain associated with acid reflux.

Pickle Juiceworks almost immediately on the burn and pain. Just drink the juice from a jar of the pickles you have in the refrigerator. Open the jar and take a drink a two for nearly immediate relief.

Lemons or lemonade is one of the best tasting remedies. Whip up a pitcher of lemonade and drink, its that easy. Keep a pitcher made in the refigerator and when you feel the onset of symptoms, pour a glass and drink away the pain.

Ginger or ginger tea. You can chew on fresh ginger root or seep the root in boilig water for about 10 minutes and drink the tea. Once again if you choose the tea, here is a chance to get the added relief of honey and lemons.

Yogurt is another way to fight the pain. Plain yogurt, not the flavored types, heals acid reflux because it tightens the walls around the stomach area. If plain yogurt doesnt appeal to you, then add the yogurt with fresh fruit, place in the blender for a yogurt, juice smoothie. Once again the benefits of the fresh fruit and yogurt are too numerous to mention.

Sugarless Gum is another simple remedy. After eating a meal, chew on a piece of sugarless gum. The chewing action produces extra saliva, which is a natural acid reducer.

Exercise is the one of the most important factors in fighting acid reflux. Laying or sitting can actually make the symptoms worse. A person with reflux needs to walk as much as possible, exspecially after eating a meal. Try one of the above remedies and take a walk.

David R. Nemirow says:

I have been on medication for acid reflux for a couple of years so far. One (Nexium) had to be discontinued because my doctor said it could have a negative effect on kidneys. He changed me to (Zantac) but it has its' own list of possible side effects to include stomach discomfort, headache, diarrhea, sleeplessness and various other similar effects. I just came upon information about Plain yogurt of the type with "Live Cultures". I just began this evening and mixed fresh fruit with it. In a few days I will know if the benefits touted about yogurt are valid, and I will come back and let you know what I learn. I am hoping for the best. I can afford the medication, but I would rather have a cure for something that doesn't involve causing other things to go wrong.

Baking soda ? This is a great heartburn home remedy, but you can rupture your stomach with it if you are not careful,so use caution. Never take baking soda on a full stomach. If it has been several hours since you've eaten, get a box of baking soda and read the side of the box it will include a recipe for an antacid mix up the antacid according to the directions and take it. you will feel relief within just a few minutes and it will have no side effects.

Hey, I realized only few days before that I am suffering from acid reflux. Almost every morning in bus i felt like throwing up but then I read these home remedies and I really want to tell the other people that sipping on honey really helps. Whenever i feel my mouth tastes very bitter due to the acid, i just take a spoon of honey and slowly takes it in. It helps very much. And, one more that 2 spoonfuls Apple Cider honey (with the pulpy thing) in a glass of water with your meals helps me a lot. And one more thing, I have changed is that you should not drink tea or coffee in the morning (I used to), it produces lots of acid (i believe) because of my experiences. Lastly, I want to say that you should try to use unbleached stuff such as brown flour, brown bread (choose brown over white alternatives).

You've already mentioned honey but especially Manuka honey is a good natural remedy for acid reflux as well as many other conditions.
