Improving Eyesight With William Bates
Here's how your eye really accommodates..
You have been taught wrongfully about how your eye accommodates. The accommodation of the eye has long been an area for debate and there have been a lot of theories on how it's done. The current theory laid forth by Helmholtz in 1855 is the one that has been publicly accepted and is the one that is printed in our science books.It says that accommodation is accomplished by changing of the shape of the lens itself. The crystalline lens in the eye changes its shape with the help of the ciliary muscle.

In the beginning of 1900 the was an ophthalmologist by the name William Bates who didn't buy this theory at all and he spent his entire life proving that the theory was faulty and instead showed the correct way the eye accommodates.
He started to question this when patients who had their lens completely removed still had the ability to accommodate. He began to suspect that accommodation was done in a different way and he began to research this.
Bates soon found out that the eye accommodates by changing the shape of the eye ball itself. It does this by the help of muscles located on the outside of the eye.
He also found that many of the cases of blurry and imperfect vision could be cured with the help of simple eye exercises. He came to the conclusion that glasses didn't help treat the problem, it was just temporary and the vision could be become even worse. Instead he said that poor sight was caused by a mental strain. This strain however could be cured by getting the eyes to relax and for this he developed certain eye exercises.
The Palming Method to Improve Vision
This is a very effective exercise to naturally improve vision..
So what are these exercises?Well, they are very easy to do and if you wish to improve your vision naturally then this is the type exercises you need to be doing.
The first and most important exercise that Bates taught was called palming. This was a very simple exercise but still a very powerful one.
To do this you need to first rub your hands together and then place them over your eyes and just relax. You do this so that the eyes can relax and recuperate. Energy and warmth from the hands will flow into the eyes and it's very relaxing. If you have poor vision that this exercise is very important. You should try to do it at least 10 minutes a day to improve vision.
Once you have done this exercise for a while then you can add one thing. When you are palming then try to visualize perfect blackness. As black as you can. If you are able to visualize the color black then your mind will get to a state of total relaxation and the mental strain that's causing you to see poorly can be relieved.

Accommodation Exercise to Improve Vision
This is a great exercise that will restore your vision naturally..
I'm going to give you an example of the exercises that you can find in the Vision Without Glasses manual.When trying to improve your vision, you should try to begin and close with the palming exercise but you also need some type of exercise that targets the eye muscles and gives them a complete workout. One of these is the following accommodating exercise. This will help you to improve your ability to see far and near objects clearly.
This is how you do it:
First you need a piece of paper that has some type of symbol on it. Take this piece of paper in your right hand and sit comfortably and erect in a chair. You should be able to pick a distant object so sitting in front of a window is preferred.
Now, choose a distant object that you can see clearly and focus in on it. Hold the focus for about 10 seconds and then slowly take the piece of paper in your right hand and hold it right underneath your object. Then simply switch focus to the object on your paper and hold your focus there for 10 seconds. Then switch back again and hold it on the distance object for another 10 seconds. Then switch back to your object on your paper.
Do this switching of focus back and forth for about 5 minutes. This will exercise the muscles involved in accommodation and you will improve your ability to accommodate greatly. Then after some time practicing this exercise you can select a distant object that is further away and move the piece of paper closer to you. This way your eye muscle needs to work more in order to get a clear image. But only do this once you feel comfortable with the exercise.
This is an exercise that can give you close to telescopic vision if it's done for correct.
Improve Your Vision With Tracking
Track the edges around an object..
Another exercise which you will find great value in is the tracking & edging method. This is similar to the accommodating exercise but still a bit different. To do it you need to sit in a chair fairly erect.Then pick out an object that you can see fairly clearly and begin to track the edges of it. Simple choose one focus point on the edge of the object and then switch to a point which is close to the previous one.
This exercise can be done to improve your farsight as well as your nearsight. To improve your farsight you need to choose an object which is far away and track it. To improve your nearsight then you can do the same exercise by tracking the edges around letters on a paper.
Eye Stretching for Improved Vision
This exercise can stretch out any strain that you have developed in your eyes..
Now in order to exercise your eye muscles some more you need to stretch them. It can be relaxing as well as painful. This depends wheter or not have a strain somewhere in your eye muscles. This exercise works just like regular stretching works, to stretch out any strain that you might have developed.The exercise is very easy to do.
Begin by looking to the right with both of your eyes all you can. Then hold in that position for about 10 seconds, then switch to the left side and hold for an additional 10 seconds. Then look up and hold in that position for 10 seconds. Then look down as much as you can and hold for 10 sec. Then continue by looking down right and hold for 10 sec, then up left and hold for 10 sec. Then down left for 10 sec and then up right for 10 sec.
Continue this stretching by looking on your nose for 10 seconds. If you have trouble with this then take a pencil and hold it in front of you. Focus on it as you move it to the tip of your nose. Hold focus there for 10 seconds.
If you feel any tension when doing these exercises then move in that direction where you feel pain. This is where you have a strain and you need to stretch it out.
After you have done this then end with palming for about 5 minutes.

- Hey, thanks for all the useful info. This is great stuff and helpful to those who are suffering with things like myopia and hyperopia. I have been doing some serious research of my own concerning such exercises and plus-lens therapies. Thanks for the great stuff and for caring about those who suffer like I have.
