A collection of online resources on green, natural and organic skin care and beauty.

This is a compilation of web pages featuring information, recipes, product reviews and more on natural skin care and beauty. I've also featured general green living guides to provide a greater context for people interested in green beauty. Natural and organic skin care is not only better for your skin, it's also a great way to take care of the earth.
I first became interested in this topic from having sensitive skin and seeking gentle skin care products and natural recipes that don't irritate my face. In my work as administrator of an online skin care community for women, I've had the pleasure of discovering some of the best resources the web has to offer on natural skin care and beauty.

My hope is that this page will draw more attention to the best natural and organic skin care and beauty pages on the web. I've chosen to feature articles that have impressed me for their written content, graphics and unique personality. Most (but not all) of the authors are also active members of my Skin Care for Women group.

Natural Skin Care and the Green Movement

Beauty and the earth: a worthy topic, or an excuse to sell?

I happen to love green skin care, in case you couldn't tell from my skin care and makeup lenses and their emphasis on natural and organic products. I must admit, the green movement is not my primary interest when it comes to political activism. I've been much more involved in causes that have to do with human rights and restoring dignity to exploited and marginalized people.

But I've had to take an interest in skin care because of my own very sensitive skin, and I've discovered that natural skin care and makeup products are almost always easier for my skin to tolerate than synthetic products. I learned to read ingredient labels and choose skin care and makeup that is free of sulfates, artificial fragrance, and other irritants. From there, I connected with the green movement and started to explore other ways to make my lifestyle more eco-friendly.

Is beauty and skin care a worthwhile topic of concentration for the green living movement?

Yes! Natural and organic skin care and beauty can get people involved in green living when they might not otherwise have paid any attention.

cjsysreform says:

I wanted to address the greenwashing issue because it was brought to my attention by a review of Green Skin Care for the Face that came from someone on StumbleUpon. She didn't like the page and basically just wanted to vent about how people like me don't understand the green movement at all... but amidst all the self-righteousness, her comment did include some valid critical points. So I revised a few things on the page that were vague. I also went looking for more information and found the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, which is a fantastic resource for learning about eco-friendly beauty.

yes for sure!

ClassyGals says:

Yes, going green in skin care has definite benefits to your skin, as well as, the environment.

No! Too many skin care and beauty companies are guilty of greenwashing.

Great lens! I am really into this aspect of skin care. I recently joined a new company launched in January. The Votre Vu products are made in France and 90% of our ingedients are grown in France. We have some organic products and all of them are naturally based. We are working fast and furious to come out with our ALL ORGANIC line this year. I would love to send you some samples of our organic line and get your opinion. We are also actively seeking representitives for our products. Check out my blog at: www.premiumfrenchskincare.com. I would love to get your feedback and opinion.
