Natural Remedies for Gout|Water
How Drinking Water Can Give You Soothing Gout Relief
Most gout sufferers are overweight. Most overweight people are dehydrated. Water can help you lose weight by reducing your appetite and by helping your body function more properly. Losing weight is one of the key ingredients in prevention of gout.
Water also helps you overcome your painful gout attacks by helping your body function more efficiently. This works by helping you get rid of excess uric acid which is what is causing your gout pain. The extra water increases your urination which will help to eliminate the extra uric acid. When you first start feeling a gout attack, you should be increasing your water intake immediately. Drink an extra glass or two of water over the normal 6-8 glasses of day you should already be taking. Use this natural treatments for gout trick on a daily basis even when you are not symptomatic and you should reduce both the amount of gout attacks you have, plus the intensity of those attacks.
Natural Remedies for Gout|Celery Seed
How taking Celery Seed can Ease Your Gout Pain
Celery seed is a diuretic, so be sure to drink plenty of water. This is a good thing as water is critically important in fighting gout, and it should be one of the main ingredients in your natural remedy for gout therapy.
Unless you are using celery seed for spices in a recipe, I don't recommend using celery seeds by themselves. Celery seed while part of the celery plant is not to be confused with regular celery. The seeds tend to be bitter so it is best to use a supplement.
Two important side effects
Although most gout sufferers are men, some women do have gout attacks. Therefore, if you are pregnant, you should not take celery seed in any form. It stimulates the uterus, raising possible risk of miscarriage or premature birth, not to mention the duiretic affect on the uterus.
Another noteworthy side affect is that while there are few people who are allergic to celery, for those who are allergic, celery seed contains oils that are extremely likely to create anaphalaxis (severe allergic reaction). This can be fatal! I don't state these two things to scare people off of taking celery seed extract, but if you have these two conditions, DON'T take it!
If you do not have these conditions, give it a try. I use it and it works. This is a great supplement to help you in your fight against gout.
Natural Remedies for Gout-Lose Weight
How Weight Loss Can Help You Overcome Painful Gout Attacks
There are myriads of weight loss solutions out there today, but one thing you need to keep in mind is that if you suffer from gout and are overweight, you need to get rid of the excess pounds.
Most likely you will need to change your diet and if you do so without going on fad and fasting diets that can be outright dangerous, you will eventually either lessen the frequency or intensity of your attacks or flat out eliminate your gout attacks.
One note is to not lose weigh too quickly or this will increase your percentage of uric acid and possibly cause you to have an acute gout attack even though you are trying to do the right things, so lose weight in moderation.

How Strawberries Help You Get Rid of Gout
I had the same problem so after doing research on natural remedies for gout, I added strawberries to my diet.
So how do strawberries help get rid of gout?
Vitamin C is a major nutrient in strawberries. Strawberries contain a high amount of Vitamin C compared to other fruits. At least three studies have reported Vitamin C reduces uric acid levels and protects against joint damage. It lowered uric acid by 10-15% in one study.
Strawberries also have a high flavonoid count. Their flavonoid profile is similar to cherries, and in some ways they do even better than cherries. Flavonoids control gout by lowering swelling and by healing joint damage.
Strawberries also contain quercitin. Quercitin hinders your body's ability to create uric acid. It also helps reduce swelling. You can also find it in pineapples, onions, cherries, and apples (the apples' skin). Grapefruits are another fine source as well as some green leafy vegetables.
Balance plays an important role in preventing gout. Strawberries may reduce your gout symptoms; however, they cannot solely eliminate this painful disease. Your diet should consist of multiple fruits and vegetables.
We are almost into strawberry season so if you suffer from this problem, eat plenty of fresh strawberries. They are an excellent natural gout remedy to help reduce your incidence and severity of gout attacks.

Please!....i would most emphatically NOT recommend what Lewis5013 put forth...Having lived with Gout for many years I've learned how to mitigate an oncoming attack and HEAT is the WORST thing that can be applied. Is simple physiology....Heat INCREASES swelling. For example, when you sprain an ankle you apply a cold pack ....to REDUCE swelling.
Gout is a circle of compounding elements. When Uric Acid crystals begin to form they aggravate the surrounding and connective tissues in the affected area. This causes swelling - which makes more room for more crystals - which causes more aggravation - which causes more swelling - and so on....
This is why most people are struck at night in bed. After swelling begins, the affected begins to generate heat - effectively turning your bed into an oven!! 3 physical tasks will help stave off an attack before it reaches the 'point of no return' ( 2 Advil) - keep the area COOL, hydrate, and excercise it. (not enuff space here for the diet stuff)

Interesting article on the celery seed extract. I will have to give it a try. I use cherry juice and have used quercitin, also.

Brilliant lens and loads of good very usable info. 5 stars! BTW, the comment by Lewis got me thinking - I hate my feet being restricted so I naturally leave them hanging out the end of the bed at night. maybe that's what I've been doing wrong all this time.
However, I baulk at the idea of massaging the joint - ever. I've done this in the past and got rewarded with a terrible attack in the affected joint! I believe any forced movement in a joint that is already affected will cause worse inflammation as the body's defences attack the "intruder" - also think on the joint as being full of crushed glass and then making the two surfaces rub over each other with that in between. Aaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh!

Here's what's worked for me lately: keep your feet super-warm at night. (It stands to reason that if the crystals are forming in your feet because that is the coldest part of your body at night, don't let them get that cold. If the crystals still form, maybe they'll have to resort to forming in small numbers in dispersed locations and thus not present an issue.)
Also, if, as your getting in bed, you begin to feel the ominous throbbing in your metatarsophalangeal (big toe) joint, massage the whole ares vigorously to warm it, to get the blood flowing and to mechanically interfer with crystal formation.
Throw away all medications.
(Caveat: this approach appears to be working for me. It is also possible that I've just been lucky for the last few months and my number hasn't come up!)
Bananas and gout
Bananas are great for gout because they contain vitamin C which is great for gout relief. They also contain potassium.
