Who is Naturegirl7?
Naturegirl7 is primarily Yvonne B., with help and input from Al B. I was born and grew up in a small town in north Louisiana, but my family was not like most of the other families in Coushatta. While my Mother grew up in the area, my Dad immigrated from France. No, he wasn't one of the Coneheads, though he liked Saturday Night Live.
We grew up with the beauty of nature around us and were taught how to live the self sufficient life of a country dweller, but also regularly took trips to the big city of Shreveport. We had the best of both worlds.
Consequently, I was encouraged to develop my innate gifts as well as learn the down to earth skills of living. I grew into a person with perhaps, too many hobbies and interests. I find it easier to concentrate on a few at a time and currently writing, photography, crochet, jewelry making, native plants and gardening are my major focus.

Natural habitats are such an important part of the ecosystem and the biodiversity of our planet. It all starts at home and for 40 years we have been striving to bring back the natural habitat and the wildlife that lives there.

We belong to both the Louisiana Native Plant Society and the local, Folsom Native Plant Society. We were once officers in the Folsom NPS, but had to step down for health reasons. We still maintain the Folsom Native Plant Society website and write many pages about native plant gardening.

Animals have always been a big part of my life.
I grew up on a large ranch in north Louisiana and loved every minute of it. My brother and I would hike through the hills just to see the wildlife. When I grew up, I married an animal lover, a kindred spirit and we have spent our life trying to help animals and the natural habitats of Louisiana.
