The Madness of March

Great Book about NCAA Tournament

March Madness DVDLearn more about the "Madness of March!" This entertaining book by Alan Jay Zeremba features his adventure as he travels to Vegas two days before the 2007 NCAA Men's tournament and write a six-day diary about his experiences!

"Alan Jay Zaremba . . . has captured the excitement, the color, the flavor and craziness of college basketball in Las Vegas in his new book, The Madness of March. . . . This book itself is like a travelogue of places, people, concepts, conspiracy theories and if Hunter Thompson were alive today, he'd embrace the author, who captures the moments and rides the roller coaster of emotions with the bettors." --Howard Schwartz"

Who will make the 2011 Big Dance?

Going into the final weekend of regular-season play, speculation as to the prospective #1 seeds is wide open. Ohio State entered the weekend ranked #1 in the polls, followed by Kansas, Brigham Young, Duke and Pittsburgh. Ohio State, Duke and Kansas have each spent at least one week as the top-ranked team. Duke and Brigham Young both suffered losses in the past week however, and BYU's hopes took an additional big hit recently when starting center Brandon Davies was dismissed from the team for a violation of school policy. Duke's loss to North Carolina on Saturday night cost the Blue Devils the ACC regular-season title. Each of the Top 5 ranked teams get a chance to redeem themselves in upcoming conference tournaments.

Other teams possibly under consideration for #1 seeds depending upon their respective conference tournament results include Texas, Notre Dame, San Diego State and Purdue.

2011 NCAA Conferences With Multiple Bids

Conferences expected to have multiple representatives in the tournament are the Big East, which could get as many as ten bids, which would set a record. Other conferences in line for multiple participants are the Big 12, with eight legitimate contenders, and the SEC, with seven solid hopefuls. Three conferences that are generally well-represented but are having "down" years are the ACC, which could receive only four bids at most, the Big Ten, which despite having Ohio State atop the polls, could be looking at three, perhaps four selections, and the PAC-10, with but two "safe" contenders, three at the outside. Again, however, conference tournaments have a way of "shaking things up", and there will no doubt be much controversy and second-guessing when the field of 68 is announced this upcoming Sunday.
