The Latest Nintendo DS Lite Games

Wow, all I have to say is that the 2 billion people of China are going to have their hands full with this limited edition DS Lite bundle, featuring an engraved Mario on a plain silver colored DS Lite!

This is to go with the launch of Mario 64 DS, which was released to us a long time ago...I'm sure these things will be up on eBay soon!

Original Nintendo DS lovers, you can now rejoice when upgrading your old units. Nintendo has announced a brand NEW color to be released on October 12th--SILVER!

This stunning color keeps adding to the already popular White, Black, and Pink DS Lite unit colors. The release date comes exactly one week before the highly anticipated DS Lite game, Legend of Zelda! So there you have it...if you've been waiting to buy a DS, wait until October 12th and buy a DS in silver!

Special note: The silver version will not be released in Australia--sorry folks!

Hey Everyone! You still with me here? Anyways, I'm going to give you my little review on the new Brain Age 2 bundle that includes the newest color to the Nintendo DS Lite family, a black and crimson red unit!

This LIMITED EDITION bundle includes the most anticipated and hyped game to date for the Nintendo DS, Brain Age 2! It also includes a carrying case, that is black with red stitching to match the colors of your Crimson Red/Black DS unit!

Alrighty, here we go...after buying my bundle for $149 at my local EB Games, I raced home and opened the box in anticipation. I was pretty excited as this was my SECOND DS lite unit! Everything was packaged neatly, and when I finally got to the new unit, all I can say is WOW! This thing is beautiful! Being a limited edition DS unit, this is one of the must haves of the year! The eye candy crimson red on the top cover is shiny, while the bottom of the unit in black has a matte-like finish (this will help prevent scratches and the like) making for a very eye-pleasing unit. Your friends and family will be jealous that's for sure! My brother was so jealous that I got my hands on one!

Anyways, let's get to Brain Age 2! There are many new games that build on the original Brain Age (which I still play!). Here are some of the new games that are part of the game...I won't tell you in too much detail to ruin the element of surprise--you'll thank me for this! Here we go...

Phew...anyways, Brain Age 2 for the Nintendo DS Lite is one of the best games you can get, hands down! I know Nintendo is trying to get a few extra bucks by bundling this game with the new DS unit (Brain Age 2 can be purchased for $19.99) those dirty tricksters! But...I would agree that this is a great bundle as it's limited edition. So what are you waiting for? Go out there, and buy this bundle before it's too late!

Okay, so here's another reason why you need to buy a Nintendo DS Lite--I'm going to give you 587,223 reasons! That's right, the latest statistics show that in August, 587,223 Nintendo DS units were sold in JAPAN!

Yes, you read that correctly...over half a million sold in one month and these numbers just keep on growing. In comparison, the Sony PSP only sold 107,561 units in August. Clearly, Nintendo is dominating the Japanese market. With over 1000 titles, how can people resist buying a DS lite?

More dizzying stats include the following Nintendo numbers:

"The Wii shifted 245,653 units, outselling the PS3's 81,541, the Xbox 360's 11,288, and the PS2's 62,256 units.

Software wise, 15 titles out of the top 20 were for either the DS or Wii. Mario Party 8 topped the charts with over 709,000 units sold."

1. Mario Kart DS - This game is definitely one of the best DS GAMES OF ALL TIME! All your favorite Nintendo characters into one game, plus you can play WiFi versus other players around the world! A must have for the NDS!

2. Tetris DS - This classic games gets even better on the NDS! Battle up to 7 of your friends with just one DS cartridge--just like Mario Kart DS!

3. Brain Age 2 - the latest Brain Age surpasses the original in game play and fun factor! A must have! It now comes with a new limited edition DS bundle--with Red and Black colors!

4. Yoshi's Island DS - This game is just so much fun as it improves on the original for Gameboy Advance!

5. 42 All Time Classics - For all you game lovers out there...every game imaginable...let's get playing!

Sooo...you've just purchased your Nintendo DS Lite and you're super excited! After opening the box and tearing out the DS Lite, what are some of the first things you should do for your Nintendo DS Lite? Well, here are the following steps I've taken to protect my investment for years to come!

1. Buy screen protectors: It is inevitable that your DS lite screen will be scratched, whether it's an accident or from a drop. Have no fear, as you can buy a screen protector to help "save" both screens for a longer lasting life. I have Hori screen protectors that are the best ones out there. Made in Japan, these things are super clear and you don't even notice them on your DS unit. Find them easy on eBay.

2. Buy a protective case for your DS: When you're traveling or not playing your Nintendo DS Lite, it should be protected in storage. What to do? Buy a case of course! I have a hard/soft cover case that I bought off eBay. It has room to hold 3 Nintendo DS Lite games, along with a slot to hold an extra stylus. If you don't want the bulk, then consider one of those thin plastic perimeter cases for your Nintendo DS--but remember, these cases won't protect your unit from damage from a high drop onto the ground.

My best advice is to not go cheap on a case--protect your investment!

3. Buy a travel kit: this is one step up from the protective case, as when you travel you will want your Nintendo DS Lite unit, plus all your precious games in a protective storage device. There are lots of bigger (and bulkier) solutions out there to protect your Nintendo DS. These kits have room for more games and is one of the more popular accessories out there.

4. Wash your hands before your play: That's right folks, I just said it--wash your hands before your play with your Nintendo DS Lite! I've seen too many DS lite units ruined because of slippery fingers after eating chips and candy! Don't let others handle your DS unless they are clean--trust me, this will help keep your Nintendo DS Lite looking brand spanking NEW!

5. Play it daily!! This is probably the best advice I can give, as most people buy their Nintendo DS Lite and after a few months, they get bored and put it in storage. Come on people, you're one of the 40 million+ people on the planet that own a Nintendo DS. You're special and unique! Play your DS at least once a week to make sure it works, and to enjoy your investment! There are lots of games to help you relax out there after a stressful day at the office. So remember.

So how the heck did I get started down this path of Nintendo DS addiction? Well, it started out a couple years ago when my sister showed me her "new" Nintendo DS Lite that her boyfriend bought her from Japan! At first, I wondered what is so special about this thing? A touchscreen with a stylus? Who would want that?

At the time I was already content with my Gameboy Advance SP (in Pearl Blue) but once I tried Brain Age on my sister's DS Lite I was hooked! Who would've thought a touchscreen would be so much fun! So after playing Mario Kart DS for the first time, I was so hooked. The only problem was that the DS Lite was not released in North America yet--the Japanese were going crazy over the product though!

So in the spring of 2006 when the Nintendo DS Lite was released in North America, I went down to my local Toys R Us and picked up a special bundle that included on of the most anticipated Nintendo DS Lite games, New Super Mario Bros! This was definitely a highlight for me. From there...the addiction started.

How to buy Nintendo DS Lite games for cheap!

The first game I acquired was Brain Age and I also bought Mario Kart DS for CHEAP! I bought it used off eBay! What a deal compared to paying the high retail price in stores. Why buy new when buying used works just as well, if not better? I also bought Big Brain Academy, another brain-busting hit!

One of my favorite things to do with the Nintendo DS Lite is the wireless feature! I can play my favorite Nintendo DS Lite game, Mario Kart DS with all of my friends--who don't even own the game! I can send the game wirelessly to my friends for free as long as they are within range of me. Up to 7 of my friends can play Mario Kart with me--it's amazing! Also, with the Nintendo WiFi network, you can challenge other players around the world--for free! All you need is a wireless network at home and you can setup your wireless settings through Mario Kart DS. Wow, what fun!

So there you have it...if you're contemplating buying a new Nintendo DS Lite, don't hesitate! Buy it today, since the prices have dropped and the games are amazing. You won't regret it!
