NDE's

Most of us have either heard about, experienced, or read about "Near Death Experiences," or NDE's. This is a fascinating phenomenon that even science and medicine has a hard time trying to figure out its origins. Are NDE's real or some type of altered hallucination? No one seems to know.

The majority of people who have some experience with NDE's describe pretty much the same scenario; a bright light and an extremely loving presence. Most talk about reviewing their life in a 3 to 4 dimensional capacity. Many say that God is there, but not to judge but simply to love.

A few people have spoke of a not so pleasant experience after they were declared, or close to being declared dead. But it seems the good totally outweighs the bad when discussing NDE's.

It is apparent that those who return from a NDE does so with a powerful message of love. Love seems to be the common denominator. This lens will examine the many attributes regarding Near Death Experiences and provide videos of several people who share their amazing journey with others.

Excerpts from "Spirited by Rebecca Rosen"

What the living and the dead have in common is that they're both made up of energy. In fact, everything in the Universe is made up of energy. Energy that never dies, but simply changes form.

Let me put it in relative terms: Think about water for a minute. In a cold, thunderous storm, water often forms into hail; while in a blizzard, water becomes wondrous snowflakes that flutter to the ground. In both instances, water has solidified into an icy or nearly solid form, but once it hits the ground and begins to warm up, it turns back into water. Water eventually evaporates into moisture in the air and travels back up into the atmosphere and repeats the cycle again .. and again. So, water changes form, but its essence, or spirit, remains the same. Likewise, our energy changes form when we leave the physical world, but our spirit remains the same. In other words, we never disappear. We continue to exist.

What This Means for You

Your physical body dies, but your spirit lives on. For some of you, the notion that our spirit is eternal may be a little too fantastic to accept. For others, it comes as no big surprise because you believed this all along. Either way, it's not my intention to challenge or validate your belief system, but only to share the messages that Spirit has passed on to me: that our time on Earth is a temporary gift, but our spirit has a permanent residence back "home."

Let's try another analogy. Imagine the ocean as the place our spirit comes from. Some call this Heaven, Source, Divinity, the Universe. Now imagine a teacup filled with some of that ocean water. That cup represents your physical body and the water inside it represents your spirit. When the cup cracks, or when the body dies, your spirit spills out and returns home.

Teri Rose

"All I can say is that growing up, I was taught to fear hell and judgment but that was not my experience in my NDE. The message was to love. That is not to say there isn't accountability for actions but I believe it is brought on our self by our self, not a mean punishing God. What you sow, so shall you reap. I think we might keep getting lessons until we learn to follow the Golden Rule and love others and treat them as we would like to be treated."

Dr. P.M.H. Atwater

P.M.H. Atwater, L.H.D., Ph.D. (Hon.) survived three death events that produced three different near-death experiences in 1977. She is one of the original researchers of the near-death phenomenon, having begun her work in 1978. Today, her contribution to the field of near-death studies is considered on par with those of Raymond Moody and Ken Ring. Her first two books, Coming Back to Life and Beyond the Light, are considered the "Bibles" of the NDE. With the publication of Future Memory, she has expanded her work into areas of brain development that call for a reconsideration of what is presently known about transformation consciousness. She has done extensive research into the after-effects and the analysis of common elements of the NDE. Her research into children's NDEs led to her writing, Children of the New Millennium. Her latest book, The Complete Idiot's Guide to NDEs, is in my opinion the most comprehensive book on the subject of NDEs to date.

We Live Forever: The Real Truth about Death

Amazon Review

All those old philosophers do is discuss whether God exists or whether He, She, ot It is a product of the need to believe in something greater, how God can permit evil, etc., etc. They rarely get to the root of the problem and address whether consciousness survives physical death. It is necessary to deal with that for everything else to unfold. Knowing that there is a Higher Intelligence, Creator, God, Cosmic Force, whatever name we choose to give to Him, Her, or It doesn't in itself help us understand the purpose of our lives or give real meaning to them. To put it another way, we have to first look for survival of the consciousness and let God emerge from that. If we look for God first, we never get off the ground, because God is beyond our comprehension. And so all those old philosophers just went around in circles searching for God and meaning in life.

The near-death experience (NDE) is one phenomenon that helps us better understand what happens after death. While NDEs were taking place well before doctor's Raymond Moody and Elisabeth Kubler-Ross started writing about them 30 or so years ago, there was no significant research before them. The author had three NDEs and tells us what she learned from them as well as from extensive research she has done with the NDE phenomenon. God, the meaning of life, and the afterlife were all revealed to her, much as they were to other near-death experiencers. "Instintively, I knew the middle was the center-point of creation, God's portal," she writes. "As I moved toward it, I was engulfed by a force that I knew, I absolutely knew.was the presence of God. I have no words to describe what happened to me in that presence, except to say that the memory of it still causes me to weep. Instantaneously, I felt as if I knew all things. Yet even more was revealed about the inner workings of creation and consciousness, until it seemed as if I would surely burst from the sheer immensity of the knowledge pouring into me."

While Atwater may not have been able to find words to describe what happened to her in the presence of "God," she finds ample words to describe what she otherwise learned during her three NDEs as well as what happened to other experiencers she has interviewed. It makes for a fascinating read and there is much more substance to it than you can find in the writings of any of those old philosophers. This book should be the first book offered in Philosophy 101.

Karl Skala Poem

"Would you really call this dying?
In the near light, but far away.
This light which out hope nurtures.
To the star high above
Everyone has traveled there in their mind
before your body, the mind, the spirit
belonged once to the stars
let this light shine deep in your heart, in your dreams
on this earth. Death is an awakening."

Death and Departure

Oh, my god! I'm not really dead - am I? I mean, my body is dead - I can see it below me - but I'm floating .. I can look down and see my body lying flat in the hospital bed. Everyone around me thinks I'm dead, but I'm not. I want to shout, hey, I'm not really dead! This is so incredible .. the nurses are pulling a sheet over my head .. people I know are crying. I'm supposed to be dead, but I'm still alive! It's strange, because my body is absolutely dead while I'm moving around it from above. I'm alive!

These are the words spoken by a man in deep hypnosis, reliving a death experience. His words come in short, excited burst and are full of awe, as he sees what it is like to be a spirit newly separated from a physical body.

Review of "The Burning Within"

by Renelle Wallace and Curtis Taylor

"The Burning Within" is a true story of a couple returning home after vacation and an unsuccessful attempt to revive thier marriage. They were involved in a plane crash, rescue, survival, recovery, and trying to cope with life after severe burns and disfiguration.

Adding to this tradgedy was the womans disregard for the warnings and strong premonitions of what was to come. That burning within all of us. Also a very compelling near death experience and confirmation of life after death beliefs that people of every religion can relate to.

Guardian Angels

"How great the dignity of the soul, since each one has from his birth an angel commissioned to guard it." St. Jerome

Some people have a Guardian Angel or a Spirit Guide story to share. These stories are not as common as the NDE stories but this fact does not make the belief in Guardian Angels more or less feasible. It's been said that we can summon our Angelic helpers via meditation and simply asking for an introduction. Of course it's much easier said than done and sometimes you wonder why, if Spirit Guides are real, they are so hard to make contact with.

The bottom line with Spirit Guides is, whether you believe in their existence or not, the concept is real to many people. If you want to know more about Guardian Angels, as with anything, you have to study and do your research. Read as much as you can about the subject because the more you learn the more likely it is for the Universe to step in. Once the cosmos are involved the law of attraction takes over. When the Universe attaches to your desires, it brings people, places, books, and events to you that will shed more light on the subject. Your path will be littered with knowledge and understanding about that which you desire.

Angels want to be around us and experience joy from our calling on them. All that's needed from us is simply to call on them and below are a few ways in which you can do so:

  • Writing a clear and concise letter to your Angels as if you are writing to a dear friend. Don't hold anything back because you have nothing to
hide nor should you try to hide anything that is going on in your life that you need assistance with.

  • Visualize your Guardian Angel in the room with you; by your side each and every day regardless of what you are dealing with. Angels are not in the least judgmental so do not concern yourself with your daily human shortcomings.

  • Speak out loud to your Spirit Guides.  It's best you not do so in a public place for obvious reasons but in the seclusion of a room, talk with your Angels as if you are speaking with any human being. Find a quiet place to converse with your Guides. If you feel uncomfortable speaking aloud, just talk with them in your mind, they can hear you either way.

My experience with Guardian Angels

There was a relative of mine who once made a rather disparaging statement about someone very dear to me - my mom. My Mother has been deceased for a couple of decades and for this relative to make this remark in a letter was a "cheap shot" at best because it was a remark that he would never have made if she were alive.

I quickly responded to him and chastised this senior family member for what was considered a disrespectful insinuation about someone who he professed to love when she was here. After bashing him and putting him "in check" so to speak I closed my letter out with, "My mother is now my Guardian Angel."

Truth be told, at the time, I was just blowing off steam and really had no idea if my Mom was my Spirit Guide or not. Fast forward five years later, I'm walking for exercise and I make a statement in this meditative walk that I'm a little tired of the guessing game. I'm speaking to myself, or to any being in the Spirit World that would care to listen. I want to know, and I need someone to let me know if I made this trip to this earthly dimension alone or is there someone, or some entity by my side?

A couple of nights later I had one of the most realistic dreams I've ever had in my life. I woke up, or appeared to be shaken until I woke up. I could see but my eyes were closed. I tried to get up but some force would not allow me to get up. I yelled out loud, "what the heck is going on" (and heck was not the word I used). I saw to my right silhouette's of people and directly beside the bed was an entity that I could not make out, the only part of the figure that I could recognize was the hairstyle. The entities' hairstyle was like my mother's. My mom rolled her hair every night of her life and first thing the next morning she would remove her rollers and go about her day. This included Saturday mornings as well.

The dream made it clear to me, we are surrounded by entities all the time. There are times however, the spirits that surround us are not always pleasant or loving spirits. Loving or not, they cannot do us harm but the spirits that surround us, and these are those that we have not actually called upon, mirror what is going on in our life at that particular time. For example, if we have had a bout with anger or despair, and have not prayed or meditated to release these negative emotions, you will find yourself (unbeknownst to you of course) surrounded by these type of spirits. Sounds odd or incomprehensible you say? Well, think about the Law of Attraction, it has no boundaries. Your emotions are attracting these spiritual elements to you. I found that out in this dream as well. The figures that were to the right and in the backdrop were Spirits that were not necessarily good or bad, they were attracted to me because of what was going on in my life at the time. Mother was there to sort of "keep them at bay" and to provide an answer to my question of a couple of days prior.

Repeat this affirmation on a daily basis: I am surrounded by positive, prosperous, protective, and healing Spirits.

What is it like to die?

Excerpts from "What Happens When We Die?" by Sam Parna, M.D., PH.D.

It became quite clear that there was a common thread to NDE's .. coming close to death was a largely pleasant experience for the majority. People commonly described feeling peaceful and joyous, seeing a bright light, seeing a tunnel, seeing deceased relatives, entering a heavenly domain, reaching a point of no return, and having a life review, as well as separating from the body and watching events from above. Many had now lost their fear of death and had been positively transformed, drawing inspiration from their experience to go on and perform altruistic work with a sense of humility.

One of the most consistent features was a great sense of calm and peace, which for the majority of people occurred in the early stages of the experience and then lasted throughout the NDE. In many cases, people described becoming pain-free, calm, and peaceful before going on to have the near-death experience. One woman wrote:

"I suffered a gynecological hemorrhage and was admitted as an emergency to hospital.. It happened again.. this time it was worse, and I was lying in a pool of blood. The doctor was called, and there was a lot of urgent activity around my bed.. That was the last thing I remembered . Then I was high on the ceiling on the ward looking down on the person lying there. I was surrounded by a strong light. I did not go through any tunnels. I was not frightened - in fact, I was very happy, very peaceful and in awe of the wonderful light all around me. The light was so beautiful - brighter than the clearest sunshine and yet not dazzling. I had never seen such light before and never felt such peace."

Many other people also described an out-of-body experience as well as the sensation of seeing a bright, warm, welcoming light. The out-of-body experience was described as a sensation of separating from the body and being able to watch it, and events that were taking place, from a point above. Once in an out-of-body state, people typically described feeling very "light" and "peaceful." I noticed that they often inadvertently described themselves as the part that had separated from the body. For example, they'd say, "I was at the corner of the ceiling, looking down at my body. While at the ceiling I thought to myself, What is my body doing down there? The "I" part was always the part at the ceiling, and not the other way around."

In other words your consciousness, the part of us that is immortal, the part that lives on after the physical death, is seeing and experiencing this tranquility.

I knew I was in a different existence and in my unconscious state I remember thinking, So this is dying I never thought it was so easy. It was like taking off your coat.. The one thing that stood out was that my spirit moved from my body.. In some strange way, however, it was still part of me.

I suddenly found myself standing beside myself looking at a cord that connected me to my body and thinking how thin and wispy it was. Someone was beside me. I was made to feel secure and encouraged to trust my companion, who suggested that the cord was insignificant and that I should not concern myself with its fragility. I was guided toward the light. This was a sort of void, in which I found myself with the ability to fly, or should I say I had no weight - a very strange experience. Throughout the journey I kept looking back to ensure my companion was with me, but somehow toward the end of the journey I found myself just content to move on and reach the end.

Reaching the light, I was met by other beings of light and very gently encouraged to move on toward a life review. In this experience, my actions were not judged by others; I judged myself. My presence could see into my mind, and there was no way I could hide any thoughts. Gently I was encouraged to understand how my mistakes hurt others by experiencing what others had felt as a result of my actions. I was confused, as it all seemed so strange. The word death was never mentioned, yet somehow I came to understand that I was in that place of spirit where the newly dead move on to.

Many questions sprang to mind, like How? Why? I just had abdominal pain, nothing considered life-threatening, I was told by those in spirit that I had been pregnant. I did not know that I had been pregnant before this; I had just thought that I had abdominal pain. I was also told that the spirit of the child had initially consented to be born and then changed its mind... that it had experienced a very traumatic life before and just could not face life again just yet. Perhaps with love and encouragement it would in the future. I asked to see this spirit and explain that with me and my husband, it would have known love. We had been hoping for another baby for some time. There was hesitancy, and after a delay one can only assume the spirit concerned was consulted. We spoke together. Poor soul, I really sensed the fear. It felt secure with the brothers around it, who supported it with love.. "One day" was the message from the brothers of light. "Be patient with him."

Your Vision of Heaven?

by workhomeunion

It's my belief from research and study dating back over three decades, "Heaven" and "Hell" are simply words created by man. I was raised in the Christian faith, but at around 15 years of age, I began to read voraciously about the origins of Christianity. The more I read, the more I studied, the more I began to distance myself from organized Religion.

Our state of being on this planet deals with "Cause and Effect" .. in religious terms, it's referred to as "reaping what one sows."

If you believe in reincarnation, part of what you're dealing with in this life, good or bad, quite possibly has something to do with a previous existence. Most of the major religions disagree on a variety of things but the two concepts they seem to be in agreement on are:

  1. We are made in the image of God (our Creator, whatever you care to call this entity) and that is not a physical image, that would be a spiritual image based on energy.

  2. We are eternal beings.
If we indeed are eternal beings, immortal beings, then your immortality did not start on your date of birth, nor will it end on your date of (physical) death.

Eleanor Roosevelt, when asked how she felt about reincarnation, her response was, "I don't think it would be any more unusual for me to show up in another life, than showing up in this one."

Plato, one of the greatest thinkers of all time suggest that, "All souls are immortal; for what is always in motion is immortal. It is the nature of the soul to initiate its own changes, to be self-moving, rather than merely moved."

To take it a step further, the Soul is always expanding, growing, and learning. Therefore, the lessons we don't comprehend in this life, will be understood somewhere down the road of our spiritual development and evolution of the Soul.

Study the books and dialogs of people that have had NDE's (Near Death Experiences) and as someone previously posted, most of them did not want to come back. Because of the unconditional love they experienced when in the presence of a non-judgmental, "Being of Light," with a personality, many pleaded not to return.

I've tried to understand to some degree what they felt like, because often they describe an incredible feeling of love and warmth but cannot put it in earthly words. The next time you get goosebumps, from hearing a lovely song, or being around someone you love dearly and they make you laugh uncontrollably, multiply that feeling by about 1 million, and that is how the Spirit feels when it's home, when it's in the presence of a Loving Creator.

P. M. H. Atwater and George Rodenia

George Rodenia was a Soviet scientist who was killed by the KGB in the late 70's. He was run over again and again just to be sure he was good and dead, which he was. His body was was pronounced dead and no brainwave activity was registered. George was placed in a cold morgue storage compartment for three days. During this time he experienced what we would refer to as a near-death experience. The thing is, he wasn't near dead, he was clinically and physically dead!

When they pulled him out to begin the autopsy he awoke when they began the first cut. The first thing he said was, " Check the boy's left arm. It's broken." There was a kid in another room, in another part of the hospital who was crying and the doctor's couldn't figure out what was wrong. They checked and sure enough his left arm had a hairline fracture that had been overlooked. George had no idea he had been there for three days but he had been having quite an experience in consciousness . . . even as the brainwave activity was non-existent and as his body was in a freezing cold, airless compartment. This is evidence that the mind exist outside of the body and that the brain may be more of a receiving instrument.

Review of "Keepers of the Garden"

Written by Dolores Cannon

I read Delores Cannon's book "The Custodians" in three nights. I immediately bought a copy of "Keepers of the Garden" and devoured it in two sittings. I'm now finishing up another of her works, "Legacy From The Stars", and have two more titles of hers laying in wait on my bedside table. I express this as measure of the impact of that her books have had upon me. I found them all to be rather remarkable. If you're the debunker-skeptic type let me save you some time. Move on. There's nothing for you here. If, however, you're of the more open minded inclination and not threatened by possibilities and ideas outside the purview of "the norm" then take note. Despite the fact that modern day hypnosis has been used as an effective technique for nigh on a century, it is only now being accorded the interest and professional credibility that it has long since deserved.

I'm happy to say, Mrs. Cannon's regressive hypnotherapy work pushes the envelope of what is "the norm" even further, to its limits and beyond. In a truly fascinating series of regressions with various hypnotherapy subjects she explores some of the most fundamental questions of our existence.

Do you want to know how the universe was formed, are we alone, where we came from, who we are, who created us, where we're going, what it's all about, and how aliens, extra-dimensional entities, reincarnation, the afterlife, and the soul all neatly fit into it? You'll find answers in here. Whether you find them to be true will remain for you to decide. And as well it should be. Trust your gut and intuition here and give you left-brain anal-lyzer a rest. As one who has seen a UFO on more than one occasion, and has had any number of paranormal experiences (experiences which science will eventually prove be to nothing more than a product of previously undiscovered physics), I find the material contained within "Keepers Of The Garden" and her other books to be accurate, honest in its attempt to reveal the truth, and possessing the quality of all forward-looking Good.

Chances are, as you read this book you'll find yourself saying such things as, "Of course, that's so obvious. Why didn't I ever think of it?" Have you ever had the experience of reading something and feeling like it was something you had forgotten but were now only just remembering again? Well, if you like that feeling then read "Keepers of The Garden" and revel in it.

Illuminating the Afterlife ..

by Cyndi Dale

We always wonder about what happens at death and afterward. I got this book, hoping for some new ideas and information - a lot of what's out there seems cloned from each other. This book delivered new information, and new contexts for that information.

While the Planes of Light are a concept that I spiritually embrace(heaven being a set of soul experiences rather than life on a cloud, singing hymns), I really, really liked the discussion on the death process, about re-turning into light. A very hopeful book - I would recommend it to anyone who has been present for the death of a loved one. And for anyone looking for a new vantage point on the death process.

Carl Jung

July 26, 1875 - June 6, 1961

Carl Jung, famous psychiatrist, broke his foot in 1944 and immediately had a heart attack which almost killed him.

Jung did not die but had an out of body experience in which he later described as having felt "great peace, humbleness, and contentment," and that "I had everything that I was, and that was everything."

Carl Jung had a number of other visions before he regained his health. He wrote: "It is impossible to convey the beauty and intensity of emotion during these visions.

They were the most tremendous things I have ever experienced.. I would never have imagined that any such experience was possible. It was not a product of imagination. The visions and experiences were utterly real; there was nothing subjective about them; they all had a quality of absolute objectivity."

Dr. Long asserts that there are 9 arguments that prove the existence of life after death. These arguments have been generated through the study of consistencies from the hundreds of NDE accounts that he's complied over the years. Some of these arguments include how: it can't be medically explained how people experience consciousness when they are clinically dead; blind people experiencing visual perceptions during their NDE (even though, blind people do not dream in visuals); children giving NDE details similar to adults, though they may have never been exposed to this concept; the "life review" experience tend to reflect real events. These arguments, along with the others, are the primary basis for Long's proof assertion.

Edgar Cayce on Human Origins
The plan for the soul is a cycle of experience that is unlimited in scope and duration. Through this evolutionary cycle, the soul will come to know the creation in all its aspects at the discretion of the will. The cycle would be completed when the desire of the will was no longer different from the thought of God. The consciousness of the soul would then merge with its spiritual consciousness of its identity with God. Then the soul will return to its source as the companion it was intended to be.

As a companion, the soul would remain conscious of its separate individuality and would be aware of its own free will as it now acted as a part of God, but not diverting its mind because it was in agreement with God's influence on the mind of the soul. Until this state of at-one-ment was reached, the soul would not be a companion in the true sense of the word.

NDE and Pre-Birth - Kevin Williams' research conclusions
It is not unusual for near-death experiencers returning from clinical death to report having received information concerning their pre-existence before they were conceived in the world. Some experiencers report of learning how they chose various aspects of their lives to be predestined before they were born. Some of the choices people have reported having chosen before birth include the selection of their birth parents, choosing their mission in life, and even choosing how they will die.
