Sell your unused items for cash!

With the holidays approaching, how are you going to pay for Christmas gifts? Why not sell unused items around the house? It's simple. I am writing to help you reduce your stress and worry about finances for Christmas 2009.

Sometimes the solution to a problem is right in front of us, only we can't see the solution because we're looking down. We may be looking down because we are feeling blue in this down economy. Instead of looking down, just look out and around you.

Poke in your drawers or the back of your closet. Do you have a Dooney & Bourke designer purse you don't want? I'm talking authentic here. Perhaps you want to upgrade your TV. Do you see things that can be turned into cash? Cash in time for Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or whatever.

How do I find a resale or consignment store?

Use a Resale Directory!

Finding local professionals to consign or buy your items on the spot for cash is easy thanks to national consignment and resale directories like the Consignment Pal Resale Directory. Most directories include a variety of resale and consignment businesses like antique shops, business liquidators, consignment shops, eBay stores, eBay Trading Assistants consignment sellers, non profit thrift stores, resale shops, etc. Other useful consignment and resale directories include:

- eBay Trading Assistant Directory
- National Association of Resale & Thrift Shops
- Showroom Finder
- Resale.net

How will a resale directory help me?

Depending on the seller, you can consign or receive cash on the spot for your items. Finding the perfect consignment store, eBay seller, or resale shop is easy because directories often includes store descriptions, specialties, maps, zip code searches, and eBay listings.

What can I sell?

What can you sell this holiday season? Almost anything! The key is to use a seller who specializes in your items. You'll make the most money with a professional who understands the marketing details and pricing strategies unique to your item. This is especially true on eBay, where seeing and touching the item is replaced with a detailed description and numerous pictures.

What does it cost?

What about selling fees? Commissions vary based on the type of seller, quantity of items, location, and services required. Fees generally run from 25% to 50%. For more on selling your items, see How to Sell Items. If you want to sell your items online on eBay, please see How to Sell Items on eBay.

Remember...Charities need help too!

During this Thanksgiving and Christmas season, remember the nonprofit thrift stores. With relatives coming for the holidays, clean out your clutter. Share your unwanted items with your favorite charities and enjoy tax advantages come April. The PayPal Holiday Survey found that "73% of online shoppers intend to give to charity this season." Why don't you join them?

Let's get started!

Ready to begin? Picture holiday gifts for more than just your loved ones. Gather the items to sell. Find a local consignment or resale business to consign or buy your items for cash. You are well on your way to a happy holiday!
