Neil Gaiman
Neil Gaiman - British born author of fantasy and science fiction novels, short stories, poems, graphic novels and films.
Neil Gaiman is possibly best known for "The Sandman" graphic novels, and his books "Stardust", "American Gods", "Anansi Boys", "The Graveyard Book" and "Coraline", the TV series "Neverwhere" and his work on the films "Princess Mononoke" and "Beowulf".
Film adaptations of several of Gaiman's books have either been made or are in production, with the movie version of "Stardust" released in 2007, "Coraline" released in 2009 and "Death: The High Cost Of Living" currently in production.
I'm a huge fan of Neil Gaiman and this page is both a general look at Neil Gaiman and his works and a lensography of my own Neil Gaiman lenses on those of his books I've managed to find the time to write about so far...there's plenty more to come!

Reasons Why I Love Neil Gaiman!
What makes Neil Gaiman so cool (in my eyes anyway!)...
- The quality of Neil's writing is SUPERB. I've read lots of his work over the years and have never thought any of it was rubbish. OK, some stuff is better than others, but all of it is good...
- Neil's characters are so real. Morpheus, Death and the rest of The Endless...Shadow...Crowley and Aziraphale...Fat Charlie...Tristran and Yvaine...Richard, Door and The Marquis...Coraline...I feel like I know them all...Neil creates real worlds and real people...or as near to that as the power of imaginaton can get!
- His output is astonishing...and his works take up a significant amount of space in my many bookshelves!
- Neil seems to still possess the "common touch"...he still seems genuinely delighted that people like his works. He frequently shares his work for nothing, allowing free downloads of some of his work and likes to interact personally with his fans. A lot of "celebrities" with far less talent, could learn a few things from him...
Neil Gaiman Quotes
"Life - and I don't suppose I'm the first to make this comparison - is a disease: sexually transmitted, and invariably fatal." - Neil Gaiman

From Wikipedia - A Study In Emerald
"A Study in Emerald" is a short story written by British fantasy and graphic novel author Neil Gaiman. The story is a Sherlock Holmes pastiche transferred to the Cthulhu Mythos universe of horror writer H. P. Lovecraft. It won the 2004 Hugo Award for Best Short Story. The title is a reference to the Sherlock Holmes novel A Study in Scarlet. "A Study in Emerald" first appeared in the anthology Shadows Over Baker Street, a collection of stories combining the worlds of Arthur Conan Doyle and H. P. Lovecraft, it has subsequently been printed in the anthology of Neil Gaiman's work, Fragile Things, and is available online. The online version takes the form of a Victorian periodical or newspaper, which includes various advertisements that reference characters such as Vlad Tepes, Victor Frankenstein, Spring Heeled Jack, and Dr. Jekyll...
"A Study in Emerald" won the 2004 Hugo Award for Best Short Story, and the 2005 Locus Award for Best Novelette. It was nominated for the 2006 Seiun Award for Translated Short Form.

"Over the past twenty years, Neil Gaiman has developed into the premier fantasist of his generation, achieving that rarest of combinations-unrivaled critical respect and extraordinary commercial success. From the landmark comic book series The Sandman to novels such as the New York Times bestselling American Gods and Anansi Boys, from children's literature like Coraline to screenplays for such films as Beowulf, Gaiman work has garnered him an enthusiastic and fiercely loyal, global following. To comic book fans, he is Zeus in the pantheon of creative gods, having changed that industry forever. For discerning readers, he bridges the vast gap that traditionally divides lovers of "literary" and "genre" fiction. Gaiman is truly a pop culture phenomenon, an artist with a magic touch whose work has won almost universal acclaim.
Now, for the first time ever, Prince of Stories chronicles the history and impact of the complete works of Neil Gaiman in film, fiction, music, comic books, and beyond. Containing hours of exclusive interviews with Gaiman and conversations with his collaborators, as well as wonderful nuggets of his work such as the beginning of an unpublished novel, a rare comic and never-before-seen essay, this is a treasure trove of all things Gaiman. In addition to providing in depth information and commentary on Gaiman's myriad works, the book also includes rare photographs, book covers, artwork, and related trivia and minutiae, making it both an insightful introduction to his work, and a true "must-have" for his ever growing legion of fans."
