Neil Finn in Split Enz
Neil Mullane Finn was born on 27 May 1958 in New Zealand. Neil is the younger brother of Tim, also a legendary songwriter and musician. Neil's middle name, Mullane, is his mother's maiden name.In 1977 Neil joined Split Enz, and became a pop star with the hit single 'I got you' from the True Colours Album. Neil and Tim were the frontmen of Split Enz, writing and playing numerous songs which went to the top of the charts. The songs 'One step ahead' and 'History never repeats' were written by Neil.

Neil Finn in Crowded House
In 1985, Nick Seymour joined Paul Hester and Neil Finn to form a band. After a short lived period as 'The Mullanes', they became Crowded House.
Paul Hester had played with Split Enz on the 'See ya round' album.
Nick came from a background of art and music. The bands Nick was in at the time included 'Bang' and 'Playing with Marionettes'.
Wow! what an electric combination. The three of them, plus Eddie Rayner on keyboard for a time, made magical songs such as 'Don't dream its over', 'World where you live' and 'When you come'. Tim Finn came into the band for a while and made the album 'Woodface' with the guys. Popular songs from this album were 'Chocolate cake', 'Weather with you', and 'Fall at your feet'.
Freelance keyboardist Mark Hart joined the band after Eddie Rayner was unable to go on tour due to his father's ill health.
The farewell show at Bennelong Point in Sydney was televised and seen by millions.

The death of Paul Hester in 2005 was a great tragedy and his loss is still felt.This photo is by Pete Baldwin, 2005, his caption is: "From this evening's gig at the Royal Albert Hall. The Finn Brothers were playing and Nick Seymour turned up (I've not seem them reunited since 1996) and they put the little drum kit on the front of the stage and the Bowler hat (as worn by Paul Hester) on the snare. And left it there.
The small drum kit is particularly reminiscent of Paul coming and playing Sister Madly (and others) when he would come to the front of the stage with the minimised drum kit."

Neil Finn's solo career
Neil has recorded two solo albums so far: Try Whistling This in 1998 and One Nil in 2001.Neil and his brother Tim have got together for two Finn Brothers albums, Finn in 1995 and Everyone Is Here in 2004.
In 2001, Neil released a live album/DVD, '7 Worlds Collide' of songs recorded at St James Theatre in Auckland, New Zealand with Lisa Germano, Sebastian Steinberg from Soul Coughing, Ed O'Brien and Phil Selway from Radiohead, Johnny Marr from The Smiths, Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam, Paul Jeffrey, Tim Finn, and Betchadupa.
