Neil Gaiman

Ranked #20,059 in Arts & Design, #449,847 overall

Neil Gaiman is the British writer who became a gothic icon with his Sandman series. He's also written the New York Times bestselling book American Gods and many graphic novels, poems, songs, and books (even children's books) as well.
Neil Gaiman (pronounced Gaym'n) is the writer of
Sandman, American Gods, and many other fantastical writings (even songs). He's a supporter of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and has many weird, friendly, and sometimes strangely talented fans who also happen to mostly be very polite, even in forums.

What I Know About Neil Gaiman

I met Neil when he was the Guest of Honor at our Science Fiction convention, ConCat. As the Program Director, I knew bits and facts about him - although I'd never read his work - but it was the person, not the famous writer, whom I found so intriguing.

Yes, Neil is polite - and charming - and good looking, but the real fascination for me was something different.

Meeting him opened up the realization that I'd never felt like a true fan because I wanted to be a
creator
- watching from the sidelines wasn't enough.

It's apparently a common Neil phenomenom, inspiring people that way.
"JaNell Golden has made a page about me at Squidoo (http://www.squidoo.com/neilgaiman), for which she seems to have dug up a remarkable number of obscure things, including a video interview with Tori."

Oh how I miss the days when you could say: I've read this brilliant new British author called Neil Gaiman. Quite worringly he seems to become part of the establishment. Still love his books, though!
  • jenms Jun 12, 2008 @ 10:29 am | delete
