This endemic plant can only be found in Mount Victoria, Palawan discovered by the team of botanist and scientist just as Alastair S. Robinson, Stewart R. McPherson and Volker B. Heinrich in June 2007 after two months of research across the Philippine archipelago.

Basic Information About N. attenboroughii

Scientific Classification
Class: Magnoliopsida
Order: Caryophyllales
Family: Nepenthaceae
Genus species: Nepenthes
Distribution: This species is known only from the summit area of Mount Victoria, Palawan, to which it is endemic. There, it grows among shrubs 0.8-1.8 m tall in relatively scattered populations of plants on rocky, ultramafic soil. It is not sympatric with other Nepenthes species.
Overall: Nepenthes attenboroughii is a terrestrial upright or scrambling shrub.
General Description: Nepenthes attenboroughii is a montane species of insectivorous pitcher plant. It is named after the celebrated broadcaster and naturalist, Sir David Attenborough, who is a keen enthusiast of the genus Nepenthes. The species is characterised by its large and distinctive bell-shaped lower and upper pitchers and narrow, upright lid. (Robinson et al, 2009)

- Very cool lens. We live in Puerto Princesa and saw the regular type pitcher plant and I was excited about those but the rat eating ones are really cool.

- I always learn something new when I read your lenses! This one is truly amazing. 5* and a tweet! A long time ago I tried to grow a specie of the pitcher-plant as a house plant. The poor thing died of starvation I think. :)
