Since painted Nerf guns can look like real guns to the general public it is highly recommended that you put a bright orange removable tip on the end of the gun when outside. That way you won't get in trouble with the authorities or give the nice old lady down the street a heart attack.

Mod your Nerf gun with spray paint to completely change the look

The easiest mod you can do to your Nerf gun is a simple paint job. By simple I mean one or two colors, I prefer really low gloss matte paint to give the gun a realistic dull metal look, but your limited only by your imagination. Whatever you choose make sure you buy the proper paint. If you want to do it on the cheap a can of Krylon plastic spray paint will work, but the better option is to use specialty model paint from a company like Testors due to its superior quality. Buy painters masking tape (usually bright green or blue) and pay extra attention to make sure you mask anything you don't want painted.

I can't believe I haven't run across Johnson Arms before, who is a professional gun prop painter/fabricator and the creator of this downright mean looking Stampede. He has modified many other Nerf guns including an Alpha Trooper CS-18, a Deploy CS-6 and a Spectre REV-5 just to name a few. Ways To Increase Power & Range

A few mods to increase the power of your Nerf gun

There are a few ways that you can increase the power and range of almost any Nerf gun you own.

Increase The Voltage: If you own an automatic Nerf gun like the Stampede or Vulcan you can up the voltage flowing to the motor by wiring in more batteries. This will cause the motor to spin faster increasing the rate of fire. Though you must be sure you know what your doing before you attempt something like this.

Replace The Barrel: Nerf designs its guns with a larger than needed barrel to unsure the gun is not too powerful. Replacing the barrel with one of a smaller diameter will increase the amount of air pressure that builds behind the dart when firing thus increasing distance and power

Replace The Spring: Swap the spring with one of a higher spring rate. Cocking the gun will be slightly harder, but when you pull the trigger the force from the tougher spring will rocket the dart to increased distances. Caution: Too strong of a spring can damage the plastic insides of your gun!

500 Rounds Per Minute Vulcan Chaingun

The guys over at manapotions.com made this sick 500 rounds per minute Vulcan EBF-25 chaingun with a round counter and an awesome paint job. They upped the voltage to the motor with two 9.6v battery packs which let them achieve an increased rate of fire.
