Nespresso Capsule Alternatives

Good coffee has a price

Nespresso capsules, everyone who has an espresso coffee machine knows them, and also knows that they can get really expensive in the long run. On this page, I will explain to you all the alternatives there are that you can use, while still being able to use your favourite machine.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Nespresso!

Reusing capsules

Reusing your capsules basicly means that you just take a used capsule, refill it with your favourite kind of ground coffee, and close it off with some aluminum foil, Some sites warn that this method may harm your machine, but I strongly believe that if you do it careful, there's nothing that can go wrong, I've reused over 100 capsules this way and never had any problems. The Video below shows how easy it is to reuse a capsule, check it out:)

One other remark: of course you can't use the same cups endlessly, you can reuse it two or three times, but after those times, it will be too pierced, so don't do this:)

Ne-cap Nespresso capsules

Another great way to save money, but still use your nespresso machine, is Ne-cap, Ne-cap is a company that sells refillable Nespresso Capsules. In short, you will get nicely looking, delicious coffee for up to a third of the price! But, that they cost less is just one of the advantages, another big one is that you can choose yourself what kind of coffee you make, or even put tea in there, it allows for a much greater freedom, and is a very easy-to-use system.

If you're interested in trying these, the capsules are sold on amazon,. Check them out:

Yet another alternative

There is one more route you can take to use your Nespresso machine without having to pay for the real cups all the time. This alternative looks a lot like the Ne-caps, however, these cups are refillable. Meaning you can just buy a few, and keep on using them for hundreds of times. HOWEVER, pay close attention here, these cups only work on machines that were bought before mid 2010, Nespresso changed its machines to disable the use of these capsules. However, if you still have an older machine, feel free to enjoy them! A complete list of the compatible machines is available on the Amazon page, which you can acces through the link below:

So, I got my pods, they work really well, dont seem to get quite as much of a crema out of them as the original ones, but that doesnt really bother me and it tastes as good, actually kind of better I think because it was fresh beans I was using. I got them from http://www.podcafe.com.au

Indeed, the fact that you can just choose your own coffee is one of the biggest pros for me. Also, the crema not only depends on the capsules, but also on the kind of coffee you use, so could be that's the cause of it ;)
