Pamper and Protect that NETBOOK with Geek Fashion

Finally I have my netbook. It wasn't actually the model I was planning on but it did fit the requirements I outlined on this lens (THE MOST PRACTICAL NETBOOK). So began my project to turn it into a mini Mac Leopard powered machine. But that would be another Closet Geek lens...

For now this lens will be dedicated to the selction of a proper netbook protection in the form of sleeves or bags. There are so many sleeves and laptop bags out there that it would be prudent out plan ahead or just buy everything online.

My hunt for the best sleeve for my new toy ended up with the following results. I often go for the wierdest or sleekest laptop bag or sleeve that offers the highest stunning factor and protection.... protection being the highest priority.

... what makes a good netbook or laptop sleeve?

Netbook users or even latop users tend to be overprotective when it comes to carrying their toy to see the sun. With netbooks and laptops costing from $300 to $2000, who wouldn't be? But then not doing so would defeat the purpose of a mobile computer big time. Mobility is the reason why these computers were invented in the first place. So if your not planning to take it anywhere outside your cave... better by a desktop.

My spanking new netbook, yep that's the snap on top, was acquired with the help of my meager squidoo revenue which makes it my favorite toy. I don't want it scratched, dented or banged around... friend or no friend. BUT!!! That doesn't mean I won't take it out with me. The main reason I wanted it is to have mobility. I wanted it so that I connect myself online with the least weight possible when travelling. Even with the 6 cell battery it feels so light.

Even then there is still that nagging feeling that your netbook is doomed. Well now remove that feeling by getting you netbook a laptop sleeve or bag. Now what should we look for in a netbook sleeve? How about a laptop bag?

So here's a rather short selection of what I'd get for my laptop and netbook.

1. Made of industry grade materials and padding
2. Light weight as possible
3. Either Low Profile or Unique

Yes it is for a Mac. But who says it can't be used for a netbook like my MSI Wind U100? A MacAir is little bit bigger than a netbook so it follows that a netbook would fit perfectly plus extra space for a mouse, a paper pad a pencil... or even a magazine. Not only does this edge give it that WOW effect or Cool factor but actually functions as a bumper that diffuses and absorbs those jolts and bumps encountered everyday. Don't ever think that these sleeves unusual edge is just for design... it does have a purpose.. a purpose that you netbook or laptop will thank you for. Not to mention that it is stain resistand and machine washable.

Of course not only does a netbook fit in it with the additional extras... a 12 to 13 inch laptop would fit snugly inside.

I hear ya! I have converted a leather mailbag style purse to carry my netbook and it seems to be working pretty well. I worry as much about it getting stolen as broken, so when it's out and about it's on my shoulder all of the time. Though tempting to leave it in the car, I just can't bring myself to do it, so I'm still looking for an industrial strength, low profile netbook case. Great info and great lens!
