View Netflix Movies On Your TV

If you have not yet gone from Netflix to TV, you'll be glad to know how easy and inexpensive it is.

My husband loves movies, and documentaries (as much as I do), and so it was a no-brainer in choosing the Roku XD for him to stream our Netflix account to his TV. This purchase turned out to be his favorite gift of 2010. He is quite in love with his "Netflix to TV" Roku XD streaming player!

Come along. I'll tell you about getting set up to watch a movie any time you want to. Then, you can decide if going from Netflix to TV with a Roku XD is right for you.

Easy Set Up!

Roku makes Netflix to TV a cinch

Netflix To TV Fun!

So easy!

You can literally be going from Netflix to TV in about five minutes.

The only hitch I encountered was that the Roku turns on automatically once you plug in the power cord, and according to the instructions, a setup screen is to appear. I saw nothing. A blank screen. Why?

Well, if you are like me, you've had very few reasons to switch your remote from TV to audio/video (AV1 or AV2 button on the remote), so you will be standing there like I was wondering why the setup screen for the Roku setup screen did not appear.

We don't play a lot of games unless our grandson is around, and he man's the systems himself. And although I was the one that helped him learn about AV1; I just had forgotten about it since I don't use it regularly.

So, if you get past that little "situation" by remembering to switch from TV to audio/video, the guided setup screen will appear, and you'll be on your way!

Roku... Wha...?

How do you pronounce Roku?

Rock you?

Nope.

It's "row koo."

As in, "Row the boat, and the baby will coo."

Netflix Instant Queue

Key to adding the movies you want to see

Once you have synced your Netflix account with your Roku player, using your Roku remote, click the red Netflix box on the Roku player's home page shown on the TV (click "Home," if not there). You'll get a few rows of "suggestions" for movies to watch, under such headings as "Thrillers," "Documentaries," and even "Gory Thrillers." now and bring your account from "Netflix to TV."Purchase your Roku XD Streaming Player

Well, you can't watch every one that appeals to you all at once, so if you find one you want to see at a later time, click "OK" on the Roku remote control. You'll be at the information page for the movie. Arrow down with the remote to choose "Add to Instant Queue." Click "OK."

Netflix will add it to the row labled "Instant Queue." Watch it when you're ready.

You can also go to your Netflix account online and choose from the 6000 or so choices of instant-view movies. Once you've added movies from online, you can sync your Netflx to TV by clicking the home button on the Roku control. Then, click back into Netflix. The system will pick up the new Netflix data from the Internet.

Netflix is super awesome, I just love it! I use the PS-3 to do the job.

I loved Netflix and considered the Roku, but at the moment I stream movies and documentaries from my Amazon Prime account (straight onto my MacBook Pro). I'm one of the few in America who does not own a TV, so I watch everything on my computer. Netflix had the better selection of what I like to watch (inspirational documentaries).
