Network Marketing 101

Network Marketing is a great way to promote excellent products through a grass roots movement: People who like the product recommend it to others and get a small commission for doing so.

So why recommend products and services all the time without earning a few dollars on the side? You can do what you do all the time and earn!

To do this it's important to chose a legitimate, solid company that has a proven track record and treats it's reps 100% correct. So - How do you get started? 

A few important hints what to look for when joining a network marketing company

Network Marketing is a great industry and there are many well established companies with hundreds of thousands of reps who make nice money.

Every day a few new companies are started, and at least as many close.... - It's therefore important to check out the company you want to join and make sure there is a proven track record.

Don't fall for the hype about "Just started" / "Get in at the Start" and such stuff. You're likely to be burned, because to bring a network marketing company up to speed and then maintain and nurture the growth and assure the logistics is no mean feat, and many a management (or at least the people who call themselves so...) underestimated the needs for capital, human resources and know-how and went under again within a few years....

Personally I know one company very well. My wife and I work with them for over 10 years now and we personally know that this company offers stability, good, actually exccelent(!) products and that it's possible to make a good monthly income with them:

What not to expect from network marketing 

I'm active in network marketing for over 12 years now.

I love it because it leave me free to organize myself and to do as much for the business - and and at my own time - as I feel is needed.

Just be aware, that network marketing is a real business, and you need to treat it as such. If you feel it's a great way to make a million in the next 6 months, then maybe you should simply buy a lottery ticket and hope for the best!

It's just like any other activity: You need to do something first, and then you are rewarded. What's nice about network marketing is, that you can define where the income will stop. Nobody puts an upper limit or salary cap in front of you. You alone decide when it's Ok and enough.

How long will t take? As long as you have time and find the energy to work the business. If you keep it in such a way that you have fun doing it, YOU WILL SUCCEED!

Check out 'my' Network Marketing Company - I've been with them now for over 10 years, and still very stisfied, they give me what I need, and I could get more if I used a bit more time to work, but I like to play too.

Richard Poe is without a doubt the most prolific, captivating and widely published author in network marketing history. His classic article, "Network Marketinng: The Most Powerful Way to Reach Consumers in the 90's", May 1990, literally opened the floodgates for network marketing articles and the wave of excitement for network marketing which has carried over to the new millenium.

The book is split up into 3 parts and 19 chapters. What I found particularly interesting was part two: The 7 Traits of an MLM leader in which Poe starts off in chapter 6 discussing what makes a leader. He then goes on in detail the 7 traits which are

1) Drive
2) Persistence
3) Teachability
4) Thick Skin
5) Positive Attitude
6) Compassion
7) Vision

Poe draws from the wisdom of Xenophon, Napoleon, Sun Tzu and other historic leaders and instructs the ambitious networker in the timeless art of leading others. He desribes the network ma rketer as a freedom fighter, a leader, a business leader, an entrepreneur.

Poe is almost Reagan-like in saying that we cannot depend on the government to take of us, we need to take care of ourselves and he goes on to explain why network marketing may be the best vehicle to do that.

I highly recommend this book in addition to Wave 4 and Mark Yarnells excellent book, Your First Year in Network Marketing.
