Why Businesses Need Networks

One of the most important jobs that a network administrator, systems administrator, network technician or IT consultant can do is to troubleshoot a computer network. There are number of problems that can affect a computer network including virus and spy ware, hacking by an outside source, unauthorized users and connectivity failure due to faulty network devices or configurations.

Troubleshooting Networks

The first key is to remember that no network is perfect, despite what some companies may claim. In order to have a network without errors you would basically have to use only one computer, place no applications on it and keep people away from it. So then the computer would basically be useless. Even if your network is running smoothly, doing some network troubleshooting will no doubt bring up several points which can be addressed within the system.

Next is that you need to know that there is always going to be at least one user who whether intentionally or unintentionally mess up to the network. This is usually the individual who doesn't keep up to date on all the memos posted on how to use the network properly. Network consultants often say that it can often be someone who isn't aware of how the network works an unintentionally leaves the back door open for hackers to enter the network. Network troubleshooting should look for these type of flaws within a network and not just the technical errors that can occur.

For Network Consultants and engineers, Network troubleshooting often not a one time fix, rather it is more like a game of tennis. You may fix one network error but then another problem is going to present itself, maybe not right away but eventually and then you will have to fix that effort. This is why services such as network security and troubleshooting are often considered more of an art than a science since they requires a lot of deductive reasoning in order to find the new problem each time.

Lastly using auto configuration is no match for hiring someone to find the proper network solution through troubleshooting. Allowing a vender to pick and choose things for you is one of the easiest ways to cause network errors. Rather hire a professional and allow them to look for the errors. They are trained to look in the right places and ask the right questions in order to find the problem in a timely fashion and offer the best advice on the quickest and safest solution to the problem, and then to further monitor the network for stability.
