Squidoo Power for Internet Network Marketing
Squidoo Content is King
Using Squidoo to expand your web of traffic
Now what is Squidoo? If you're reading this article, you're on it. Squidoo is basically a very simple web page. In some ways it is similar to a blog but it is easier to set up. You don't have to worry about HTML, PHP or any other kind of coding. You just need to concentrate on creating the content, the text that you wish to share with the world. All the formatting and other complications that you normally need to deal with on a web site are already taken care of for you. And it looks professional.
When you create an article on a subject on Squidoo, it is called a lens. The way that people get to your lens is they can type in the web address or url of your lens (which you probably gave them), they can click on a link to your lens in an email perhaps, or they can do a search on the internet or on Squidoo for your article. When someone does a Google search (or any other search engine search) on the internet, the search terms they use will look for keywords, keyword phrases, and tags on all the web sites on the internet and come up with the most relevant sites based on some top secret algorithms developed by that search engine. Keywords are the words in your web article that match the search terms. Tags are words not included in the text of your article but added to the tags section of your Squidoo page which help the search engines to find your article. For example, if you want the search engines to pick up your article which is on oil additives, you would make sure that your article mentions oil additives, any similar terms (synonyms), and any complementary terms. You would also add those words as tags or as many other additional words that are relevant to your article. But I stress relevant - otherwise the search engines will penalize you and give you a lower ranking. Also, make sure that your article title contains your most important keywords and a benefit statement to catch the readers' attention.
How do you come up with keywords and keyword phrases? The cheapest way is to just come up with them yourself. Use your imagination and brainstorm the keywords and keyword phrases that your article is designed to address. Try for niche markets. And then when you have come up with some, try searching for them with Google or Yahoo and see what sites you come up with.
Or you can use internet tools to help you figure out what real people are typing into the search engines. There is a free tool called Good Key Words. Once you have it downloaded and installed, type in your keyword suggestion and hit "Go" and it will return the estimated number of searches made in the last month on a select number of search engines (which excludes Google). It will also generate a number of suggested other keywords and keyword phrases with their monthly search figures. Please note that the words in the keyword phrase are not necessarily in the order of what you would use in your article. You will want to weave the high ranked keywords and keyword phrase into your article and add them as tags.
If you want a better tool for keywords (at a cost), there is Wordtracker. You will get better results, more details and information, and more keyword variations. You can try it out for a period. If you are a member of the Renegade Network Marketing system, you can find it in your back office affiliate section.
One of the cool things you can do on Squidoo is to put in anchor text in your article. Anchor text are keywords that link to other web pages. This causes your pages to come up better in the search engines. You can use these links to send people to your lead capture pages or your own website. And by doing this, these other pages will rank better in the search engines improving your overall web presence.
Something to keep in mind with anchor text is you don't always want to promote just yourself. (You are limited to 2 self-promoting links.) You should link to other sites that have good content. You could link to other members of your team and help promote their sites.
You can also put anchor text in your Bio section. Just make sure you don't make it to salesy but aim to make it useful like sending them to your main web page.
To add anchor text, you will have to put some HTML code in the text of your article or in your biography text. I won't go into it here but if you are part of the Renegade Professional Team (see link below), you can look in the resource section to get a page of various HTML code that you can use on Squidoo.
You are going to want to improve and tweak your Squidoo pages over time and check your rankings. Think about ways to improve your tags and keywords (especially the keywords in your article and description). And also look to improve your Bio box. Make your changes, give it some time, and then see how your pages rank in the search engines. Squidoo also has some interesting stats available in your dashboard view. You can see how many times your pages have been viewed and where those views originated. You can also see how Squidoo ranks your page and if it is high enough, Squidoo will actually promote your page at Squidoo! And the comments are interesting and informative to read.
Once you have your article posted on Squidoo, then you should use the social bookmarking sites like Digg, Stumbleupon, and del.icio.us to let the world know that your new article has been posted. If you don't know what social bookmarking sites are all about, please stay tuned for a future article.
So there you have it, a quick overview of how to use Squidoo in your internet network marketing efforts. I haven't gone into the details of how to sign up on Squidoo and how to set up your page and all the other nitty gritty stuff but if you want to see click-by-click tutorials, why don't you join up with the Renegade University Professional site. To read up some more on How to Create Leads Using Squidoo click here to read an article by my mentor Mike Klingler. Mike is a very successful network marketer who has taken Web 2.0 technoligies and applied them to network marketing and MLM. Mike has developed an extensive training program called the Renegade University to help even newbies to internet marketing to profit and take advantage of the opportunities available with internet network marketing.
Now go and have fun and create a bunch of lenses on Squidoo!

- I think one of the great things about online marketing is realising the ability and necessity to continually be learning. This lens goes a long way to reinstall that theory. On top of that the information found here is without doubt highly useful and beneficial. Thank you.
Kind Regards
