Networking Secrets

I am a mentor with Mentoring For Free and a professional network marketer building my own business. Like so very many others, I have traveled through the deep valleys of difficult MLM failures and maxed out credit cards. I learned a great deal about what didn't work and very little about what did.

A few years ago I was introduced to Mentoring For Free. This organization is a generic training program that teaches strategies for success in any MLM company. One of the first things I learned was that network marketing is not a sales business but rather a relationship building business.

I found this wonderful new training when I downloaded the no-cost e-book, Success In 10 Steps. This book, written by my great personal friend and mentor, Michael Dlouhy presented a new approach to network marketing. Here I discovered a wonderful networking secret. I learned that my lack of success was not my fault. This was a big step for me. I began to see the potential hidden deep within myself. I took slow new steps forward, learning to believe in myself. What a concept! Success In 10 Steps, the book that changed my life.

Another Networking Secret I learned through Mentoring For Free was an understanding of the Color To Success System. This system uses four colors to differentiate different personality styles. The four colors are yellow, green, blue and red. Everyone is a rainbow of these four colors and sometimes we emphasis a specific color when we are in a situation that requires that personality trait. Nevertheless, one color is always our dominant color. This is the color that represents our true personality and the traits and mannerisms that define us.

When we learn the habits, traits and mannerisms of the different personalities, represented by these four colors, we can grow to appreciate the various people in our lives. This knowledge can open wonderful new opportunities of understanding for each of us, and with understanding comes respect.

When we build relationships with respect and understanding, the end result is business success, great lasting friendships, and much less stress for all of us.

A third Networking Secret I found at Mentoring For Free was when I learned all about their Mastermind Coaches Corner Call. This is a call that takes place every Saturday night and has been going on for several years. This is also a generic call where no companies or products are mentioned. It is a safe place to learn and grow. Right now Coaches Corner is learning from the book 'Spiritual Marketing' by Joe Vitale.

The book is read, one chapter at a time, and leaders wishing to participate write the lesson they learned from that chapter. These lessons learned are posted to a web site where they can be read and re-read. On the calls, which attract participation from all around the world, the lessons posted on the web site are read. This is a conference call and everyone on the line can contribute and grow through a wonderful sharing experience.

I have learned and grown so much through reading and finding the kernel of truth I needed to learn from each chapter. Then sharing my lesson learned with those on the call helped me to better understand myself and to make giant leaps forward in my personal growth process. Now I can feel good, believing in myself and growing my network marketing business.

Another secret that Mentoring For Free incorporates into their training program is the 30 day Mental Cleanse. Here the book 'Think and Grow Rich' by Napoleon Hill is read and re-read. One chapter each week and once again lessons learned are shared helping us to learn and grow. Every time this old classic is studied new messages are found, often just what is needed at a specific point for the reader.

Many times those of us who experienced several difficult episodes of failure as we attempted to build a successful MLM business, need to participate in a Mental Cleanse to detox our lives. Many of us travel through life with way too much mental clutter. It is so easy to listen to all the negative people all around us, to spend too much time getting lost in TV land, or devouring the printed trash that is everywhere.

Free training is another Mentoring For Free network marketing secret. This organization provides a minimum of ten weekly skills training calls. These are generic marketing skills that will work with any network marketing company. The training covers a vast variety of topics and much needed skills which include everything from building web sites to how to use social networking for generating leads; plus relationship building skills, understanding compensation plans, or how to choose a company where success is possible.

Successful leaders who have themselves built, and continue to build, profitable businesses share, without greed or ego, from their own years of experience to help anyone willing to learn the secrets of networking success.

There are a few products available through Mentoring For Free that are made available at cost for those who need these tools. One of these that I am the most excited about is the new Success in 10 Steps book and CD. This is now hot off the press in both hard copy book form and on a CD. Only a small number of the total people working MLM businesses use computers in their businesses. Now this book and/or the CD can bring the Mentoring For Free message to them.

One more Networking Secret that is perhaps the most important of all for me is the wonderful people I have met in Mentoring For Free. I now have a great networking family all across the globe. When I combine all of this together I know I am in the right place with wonderful people who care about each other. Together we are growing our network marketing businesses to achieve goals we never dared to dream about.

On Saturday, September 15, 2007, I participated in the Heart Kids Blog. It was important for me to explain my interest in the work that Dr. Mani is doing in India. I was born with heart birth defects that were not discovered until I went into cardiac failure at age 26. I had been a tiny, sickly baby who was labeled ' not likely to survive'. But I did, however I was always frail and had pneumonia every winter. My constant cough was so pronounced that my high school classmates knick-named me 'Barky'. Every time I had a physical exam I was told I had chronic bronchitis. You see, the heart defect I was born with was multiple holes in the arterial septum of my heart. Because of the many small holes rather than one large hole, and because an ASD affects blood flow to the lungs, everyone thought my problem was with my lungs because that was what they heard..

At age 26 I was, of all things, working as an EKG technician in a small hospital in New England. Because I was working there I knew the doctors from Boston who came as consultants to see patients at the hospital. I was sent to Boston where many tests were done and it was decided that I would not live very much longer unless something drastic was done. Open heart surgery was suggested as being a possible solution for me. This was the spring of 1962 and open heart surgery was still very experimental.

I agreed to have the surgery. It was a very long procedure, requiring 30 pints of fresh whole blood of my type, B-negative, and a horizontal incision across my chest from arm pit to arm pit. Much was learned from those early surgeries about better ways to do things. The surgery saved my life, but I have lived all of the time since that surgery with problems resulting from the procedure.

I was in the hospital six and a half weeks. When the day came that I could finally go home, my parents asked my heart surgeon, Dr. Dwight Harken, about my prognosis. He replied that he hoped I would live another four or five years, but this was all too new for him to even guess. He then added that most of his patients didn't even live long enough to leave the hospital. Well, I fooled them all! This spring I celebrated 45 years since that life saving heart surgery, and I have two beautiful, adult daughters born after the surgery.

This is why I believe in, and support, the work that Dr. Mani is doing saving the lives of children born with cardiac defects. He is Making a Difference in the lives of these children and it is my hope that in some small way telling my story will encourage others to make differences and change lives by what they do, say or write.
