FanPop is a networking social site that took what is good about MySpace, Squidoo, and other top players, and rolled it all into one community.What are you a fan of? It might be a TV show, like Heroes. Maybe it's a vegetable like blueberries, or a broad business idea like being a successful entrepreneur.

- To sell! Gasp - Yes, I can use networking social sites to market to consumers who may need what I have to offer. However, I'm not one who endorses spam.

MySpace is everybody's space these days. While it used to be for angst-ridden teens wanting to connect to others in their age range, it's not home to people of all ages and professions.Teachers, celebrities, politicians, and stay at home moms all have a MySpace profile where they blog, share photos, upload music, and interact with their 160+ million "friends."
While it does provide a large community, it's never been one of my favorites to use. Finding a theme that doesn't distract from the text on the profile is hard, the friends' list only has a few real friends, and the spam is plentiful on MySpace thanks to marketers who defy good advice that they have to go undercover and not blatantly advertise on the site.
