What Networking Social Sites Meet Your Needs?
Networking social sites are now home to men, women, and children of all ages who flock to the 'net for camaraderie, a place to showcase their interests, and a soapbox platform to speak their woes.
Networking social sites that used to be dominated by a teen demographic have been infiltrated by baby boomers, thirty-somethings, and even elderly people who have managed to defy the myth that our aged citizens aren't too tech-savvy.
There's a networking social site for everyone - whether you like to discuss political issues, focus on charities, meet singles, or just broadcast the day to day drudgery of your own life.
Here, we're going to take a look at some of the most promising up-and-coming web 2.0 networking social sites generating a buzz around the world. See if one fits your criteria, and sign up - they're all free!
Some people are even using networking social sites to drum up business, sending consumers they meet in the community to their websites. Maybe they'll learn one day that it's best not to spam, but rather engage their target audience, like I teach in Social Networking on Squidoo.

A Fan-Based Networking Social Site - FanPop!
Merging the Best of Web 2.0
What are you a fan of? It might be a TV show, like Heroes. Maybe it's a vegetable like blueberries, or a broad business idea like being a successful entrepreneur.
Find a "spot" on Fanpop, and join the festivities! You can post videos, exchange links, write soapbox articles, read blog headlines about the topic, and participate in a forum about it.
You can be a fan of more than one spot, and others in the community can become a fan of yours! As you build up your contributions, you have more control over the community, earning badges that give you higher editing power within the group.

5 Ways You Can Use Networking Social Sites
Socialization on the 'Net Serves Many Purposes
- To vent about my life - my diet, my lovelife, my job, the traffic, friends, and family.
- To showcase an issue that's dear to my heart - like missing cihldren, since my best friend was kidnapped when he was just 5 years old.
- To promote an idea that I find important, like green living or the right to life.
- To educate others, like I do when I want to open people's eyes about homeschooling, marketing not being a scam, or how to have a great golf swing.
- To sell! Gasp - Yes, I can use networking social sites to market to consumers who may need what I have to offer. However, I'm not one who endorses spam.
YouTube - Another Networking Social Site
Viral Videos - for Work or for Play!
Twitter - Networking Social Site as Addictive as Crack Cocaine!
Don't do it...you'll regret it!
In a world where brevity is greatly admired, Twitter caters to the online audience that wants quick snippets of who's doing what, when, where, and why.
You have abour 140 characters to state what you're doing - and it's transmitted to peole's email inbox, text messaged to your followers, and even phoned directly to your fans.
Want to keep tabs on your friends' every move? Get them to Twitter with you. You can have favorite Twitters, build a Twitter profile, and even watch Twitter TV, where you see the Tweets pinpointed with a picture showing you who said what, and from where on the planet.
Try it once, but do it at your own risk. This one's taking the world by storm!
What Would a Networking Social Lens Be Without MySpace?
MySpace - the Granddaddy of All Networking Social Sites
Teachers, celebrities, politicians, and stay at home moms all have a MySpace profile where they blog, share photos, upload music, and interact with their 160+ million "friends."
While it does provide a large community, it's never been one of my favorites to use. Finding a theme that doesn't distract from the text on the profile is hard, the friends' list only has a few real friends, and the spam is plentiful on MySpace thanks to marketers who defy good advice that they have to go undercover and not blatantly advertise on the site.
Create Your Own Networking Social Site on Ning!
Don't Join Web 2.0 - BE Web 2.0
Ning is a site where you can create your own social networking community. You can join other communities, providing they're open to the public, or you can create a public or private community and invite people to be a part of it.
What I love about this site is that the layout and ease of use is perfect for non-technical people like me. I can have a place for viral videos, blog posts, ads, forums, and more.
You can also pay $19.95 per month to have the community hosted right on your own domain, where you have 100% control over the ads and revenue that comes in.
