Your First Steps To Making Myspace Work For You
Myspace has really gotten a bad reputation these days. Some people are afraid of it. Others loathe it. Others love it! Personally, I think it is wonderful! I think it is a great way to reconnect with old friends, make new friends, learn about new music, new businesses, new everything! Seems lately that everyone and their brother are on myspace! Why?? Well, I personally think that it is a great networking tool to help your business grow and your website to generate more traffic!Don't know much about Myspace? Here are the first steps you should do to get started.
1. Go to www.myspace.com and sign up for your new account. Be sure to make your url something that people will remember like your business name or a variation of it, whatever is available.
1.Find a nice layout to go on your page. I like using www.pyzam.com. They have all kinds of styles and colors that you can use for your layout!
2. Once you have your layout set now go in and fill out your profile! You can add all sorts of graphics and photos to your page. Be sure to talk about yourself a bit to give it more of a personal touch. Move on to what your page is about and what your business is! You can add your own banners and links to the page. Make your page something that will catch people's attention!
3. Once you have your page looking like you want it you can start adding friends. One of the quickest ways to add friends is to search for friend finders or friend adders. I personally like Friend Blaster Pro. It is very easy to use. It scans through other page's friends list and you can automatically send them a friends request. Just be careful to only send them ONE request and be sure to follow myspace's spam rules. If you don't want to use an automatic friend adder you can just search for people to add manually. You add them by sending them a friend request on their page.

Now that you have made your myspace page, what next??
Once you have your myspace page ready to go and you begin adding friends, what should you do next??
Well, there are quite a few things that you can do!
Join Groups Search for groups that are along the lines of your business. Once you are a member, introduce yourself. Don't spam the groups as this will most likely get you kicked out. Just introduce yourself and join in other conversations (while conveniently adding a link to your page on your post). It's a great way to make some new friends and get your name out there!
CommentOnce you have some friends make yourself a nice little graphic/advertisement that you can link back to your page. Leave a friendly comment on new friends' pages thanking them for adding you to their friends list and then leave your graphic ad at the bottom of your comment!
Bulletins Bulletins go out to everyone on your friends list. You can send as many bulletins out as you want, just be cautious not to over do it and annoy people! You can send out friendly bulletins advertising your website or business. If you use friendblaster as mentioned earlier you can set bulletins to go out every so often automatically throughout the day.
Blog Most people know what blogs are! You can post new blogs on your page. You can use it to post about anything you would like! Post about sales you are having on your website or new products in your store. Post about anything that you think others would be interested in knowing about!
Mood Mood status is fairly new to myspace. You can post a mood or what you are up to at the moment. It's a great tool to use to grab people's attention and make them want to come check out your page! (works kind of like twitter)
As you begin to do these things you will see that your friends list will grow. As more people hear about your page they will send you friends requests! You can network with others. You can find people who have similar websites or businesses and help each other by reposting bulletins. The opportunities are endless on myspace! Millions of people are on myspace, why not use it to your advantage??
