The reason why Mike recommends these five strategies over other possible strategies is because of their low cost.
Once you have made the initial investments in everything that you need to implement these strategies, there is no additional cost for these strategies. This allows you to generate leads at zero cost financially and build your business even if you don't have a lot of money to invest.

There are many ways to build a network marketing business on a budget.
If you interview your network marketing upline, I am confident they will be able to share with you some suggestions. After all, not everyone enters this industry with an abundance of capital that they can use to invest to create their own prospects for their business.In Building On A Budget you learn a number of different approaches to building your network marketing business on a budget. Many of these approaches are different from what you may have been taught by your upline. This is because most common low budget methods fail to have leverage built-in.
Dillard certainly doesn't proclaim that the 5 common low budget methods that he compares his strategies to don't work. In fact they all work if you develop the necessary skill set and experience to make them work.
However, Dillard found that the strategies he suggest work better for him and allow him to leverage himself better, which is why these are the strategies he teaches.
Here are the strategies he doesn't recommend.
Buying Business Opportunity Leads
The problem with business opportunity leads is that they cost money that you have no guarantee of making back. If you spend $500 on business opportunity leads and you don't recruit enough people to make your money back, that money is gone forever. Many distributors throw money away every month on leads because they don't have the skill set to recruit over the phone.
Posting In Forums
Posting in discussion forums is an excellent way to generate a targeted list of prospects for your
network marketing business opportunity. Unlike business opportunities you can do this completely for free! So what's the down side? The down side is that it is a lot of work! You have to post to a lot of discussions every day in order to generate enough traffic to allow you to consistently recruit distributors monthly.
Cold-Calling Genealogy Lists
Like leads, genealogy lists also typically cost money to purchase. Even if you are able to generate your own genealogy list for free (which takes a lot of time), this is still a very labor intensive activity with no leverage. Once you make the initial calls and you run out of people to talk to, you have to buy or generate a new list all over again.
Handing Out Or Dropping Business Cards
This activity certainly doesn't cost a lot of money. You can literally buy 1,000 business cards for less than $70 in most cases. However you would literally have to give out or drop all 1000 business cards just to get a few people to call you. It is not a very efficient strategy to say the least.
Holding Meetings
The main problem with holding meetings is the fact that you have to travel to and from the meeting. There's no guarantee that your prospects are going to show up. Also, if you are renting a facility, there is a cost factor involved as well. There's nothing worse than to hold a meeting that you paid money to rent a room and none of your prospects show up.
Building On A Budget covers leveraged strategies that don't require as much effort as the traditional strategies listed here. With these strategies in your arsenal you will be able to build your list of targeted network marketing leads list of leads regardless of what your financial state is like right.

The best way to do that is to write ads that attract this type of person in mind. Building On A Budget covers this aspect of attraction.
What most network marketing distributors do is use generic ads provided by the network marketing company and send them to generic web sites offered by the company. If you are marketing the company's products, services or business opportunity, you may not have a choice in this matter. This is because network marketing companies are highly regulated and there are certain things you can and cannot say in an ad.

What Should You Market to Generate the Best Leads?
An information based product is what you should market to generate the best leads. The product can be information in any form. It could be a written report. It could be a free video or audio. Whatever format it is in is secondary. What's primary is that it should provide information that you have access to exclusively. This is how you separate yourself from the other distributors who are marketing the same network marketing opportunity as you. Why is Information the Best Product to Market for Lead Generation?
If someone is seriously interested in getting started in your network marketing opportunity, they are likely looking for information about your network marketing company.Everybody else is already doing this too. However, what if you could provide some unique information that no one else is providing - like how to attract them to your opportunity and/or monetize for those 97% that don't join.
For example, what if you could share with your prospects how your successful upline sponsor built a full time income working the business on a part time basis? Would that give you a significant advantage over other distributors? Of course it would.
This is only possible if you market information.
