Network Marketing Meets Attraction Marketing

How to sell Network Marketing without fear, anxiety or losing your friends by Michael Oliver
Transitioning from 'selling' mode to 'being of service' mode
Establish on the first call whether our prospect is serious about changing their present situation AND whether they are prepared to do something about it.
If they are serious, then you introduce your solution and tell them how it can help them get what they want. Ask them some questions and then and only when they meet your criteria offer them a complimentary consultation for example.
Now if they are not serious, take a hint; say something like, "It doesn't appear that I can help you at this time, if your situation changes and you have more time or can have a budget or whatever their deal breaker is, please call me. And move on to the next person! You are looking for people that are not satisfied with their current situation and are also prepared to do something about it. These are the 2 criteria that must be met on that first call or you are deluding yourself. I'm talking to myself here! This was hard to get my head around. This is a process to be sure. If the first few times you just chat, don't beat yourself up; at least you took action and picked up the phone! Many never even get this far. Just be clear on the direction you are headed and with the right scripts you should pass through this phase quickly.
As Michael Oliver says: "I don't care what kind of products, business opportunity, compensation plan etc., you have. If they are not serious about taking some kind of action, then nothing is going to change and there is no point in wasting both your time pursuing something that is an illusion." He goes on to say: "Let's talk about the "Relationship".In Natural Selling it's not about creating a relationship for the purpose of making a sale. The relationship is created as a natural consequence of how you think and how you talk with people. The relationship is cemented regardless of the outcome. It comes with the territory of understanding and applying Natural Selling. The way you do this is to allow them to talk about the difference between what they have and what they want and why they want it. Help them get clear about their present situation. The Natural Selling dialogue itself is designed to do this. It will even go so far as actually taking their interest and desire up a notch or two."
I highly recommend Michael Oliver's book: How to sell Network Marketing without fear, anxiety or losing your friends! I dread to consider how much time I wasted with people that were merely an illusion. This was easy to fall into in the old model because I was so grateful to have somebody to talk to that had shown even the slightest interest! With the new model of Attraction Marketing being taught by the likes of Ann Sieg, Mike Klinger of Renegade University,Mike Dillard, just to name a few; this desperation mode is removed. Your attitude changes from a scarcity mentality to an abundance mentality. When that shift happens the Law of Attraction kicks in. People are attracted to you because they can sense over the phone if you are sincerely interested in helping them or if you are just trying to sell them.
In conclusion, your primary intent is to find out their level of seriousness. You are looking for someone with enough desire to move away from their nightmare or to move forward to their dreams. They must qualify themselves as someone who is ready to help themselves. After all is it really possible to help someone who isn't willing to help themselves? The answer of course is No. Seems obvious now doesn't it? Again I was so desperate to find someone with a pulse that it was easy to overlook what is so obvious to me now. We need to wear the hat that we are the CEO of a company, which we are by the way. Would you hire just anyone off the street to a key role in your company without first interviewing them? This is the paradigm shift we need to make. We are independent business owners/builders looking to join forces with others desiring to be independent business owners/builders as well. We are looking for leaders. People who are prepared to help themselves.

Great recommendation Irene. This book is amazing. I read the book and listened to Michael Oliver's CD's and they changed the way I communicate with others. Anyone involved in direct sales or network marketing should read this book. You made a great point about introducing what you have if the individual is serious

I would agree with this statement: 'In this paradigm shift from selling mode to finding out how we can be of service to others we need to be clear on what our intent is when we call someone.' Funny, I've been hearing about the paradigm shift for probably 5 years -- this terminology drives the guys at work CRAZY!!!

Irene,
I have never heard of this book before, but I certainly will be ordering it now!!
We do have to remember we are the CEO of our business and we don't just want anyone with a pulse working with us.
Great advice and well written. I look forward to more or your work.

Very good advice, Irene. I will certainly take this to heart when on the phone with both current and prospective clients alike. It is good to be effective and efficient. Building relationships WHILE accomplishing the goal of the call - not one at the expense of the other. Thank you for this lens! :)

Irene you are so talking to me here! Your advice is excellent and to the point as always.
It's so important for those of us in the network marketing industry to understand WE are in business and are INTERVIEWING folks when we speak with them on the phone or elsewhere.
Before attraction marketing, it was easy to feel desperate and alone... so we'd take ANY warm body into our business regardless of their qualifications or abilities.
Come on folks... even fast food joints have hiring criteria. They don't hire just ANYONE who walks in the door (even if it may seem like it sometimes).
And neither should you. Do yourself and your prospects a favor and Interview them as Irene explains. Your business will thrive with the RIGHT people in it. And the image MLM as a whole will improve as more and more folks succeed instead of fail miserably because they really didn't have what it takes to make it work in the first place.
