New Show: Mental
Premiere: May 26 9/8c on FOX
A medical mystery drama featuring Dr. Jack Gallagher, a radically unorthodox psychiatrist who becomes Director of Mental Health Services at a Los Angeles hospital where he takes on patients battling unknown, misunderstood and often misdiagnosed psychiatric conditions. Gallagher delves inside their minds to gain a true understanding of who his patients are, allowing him to uncover what might be the key to their long-term recovery. As seen through the eyes of doctors and patients who, as Jack points out, have more in common then they're willing to admit, MENTAL also tracks the romantic and personal relationships of the team of doctors and hospital staff who work closely together as they delve into the mysteries, oddities and wonders of the human brain.
New Show: Glee
Special Preview May 19 9/9c on FOX
"About Glee"About Glee
From Ryan Murphy, the creator of "Nip/Tuck" and "Popular," comes GLEE, a one-hour musical comedy that follows an optimistic high school teacher as he tries to transform the school's Glee Club and inspire a group of ragtag performers to make it to the biggest competition of them all: Nationals.
McKinley High School's Glee Club used to be at the top of the show choir world, but years later, a series of scandals have turned it into a haven for misfits and social outcasts. WILL SCHUESTER (Matthew Morrison, Broadway's "Hairspray"), a young optimistic teacher, has offered to take on the Herculean task of restoring McKinley's Glee Club to its former glory with the help of fellow teacher EMMA PILLSBURY (Jayma Mays, "Ugly Betty"). It's a tall order when the brightest stars of the pitch-imperfect club include KURT (Chris Colfer), a nerdy soprano with a flair for the dramatic; MERCEDES (Amber Riley), a dynamic diva-in-training who refuses to sing back-up; ARTY (Kevin McHale, "Zoey 101"), a geeky guitarist who spends more time avoiding bullies than chasing girls; and TINA (Jenna Ushkowitz, "Spring Awakening"), an awkward girl who needs to suppress her stutter before she can take center stage.
Will's only hope lies with two true talents: RACHEL BERRY (Lea Michele, "Spring Awakening"), a perfectionist firecracker who is convinced that show choir is her ticket to stardom; and FINN HUDSON (Cory Monteith, "Kyle XY"), the popular high school quarterback with movie star looks and a Motown voice who must protect his reputation with his holier-than-thou girlfriend, QUINN (Dianna Agron), and his arrogant teammate, PUCK (Mark Salling).
Driven by his secret past, Will is determined to do whatever it takes to make Glee great again, even though everyone around him thinks he's nuts. He's out to prove them all wrong - from his tough-as-nails wife TERRI SCHUESTER (Jessalyn Gilsig, "Nip/Tuck") to McKinley's cheerleading coach SUE SYLVESTER (guest star Jane Lynch, "Best In Show," "Role Models") to an ?ber-hip world that thinks jazz hands and sequined tuxedos litter the road to infamy rather than pave the way to Hollywood dreams.
Featuring a soundtrack of hit songs from past and present, GLEE is produced by Ryan Murphy Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan are co-creators of the series. Murphy, Falchuk and Dante Di Loreto serve as executive producers, while Ian Brennan and John Kousakis serve as co-executive producers. Murphy directed the pilot.

Posted Dec. 31, 2008
The show, which airs on American network ABC, is reportedly one of several shows the broadcaster is considering for the chop, including Eli Stone - which stars Angelina Jolie's ex Jonny Lee Miller.
Pushing Daisies executive producer Bryan Fuller announced in November his show had also been cancelled from ABC's schedule due to poor ratings.
And although TV bosses haven't officially stated the show will end, actor Underwood, who plays Simon Elder in the show, confesses the cast and crew have called it a day.
He tells E! Online, "As far as I'm concerned, we're not doing any more shows.
"ABC officially doesn't want to use the C-word, cancelled, but we're not on the schedule. I would pretty much say we're cancelled."
The show, which focuses on the lives of a wealthy New York family, first appeared on the small screen in September 2007.
Last month, the show's star William Baldwin appealed to Dirty Sexy Money's fanbase to write to ABC in a bid to save to ailing show.

It is the first hourlong scripted series to bite the dust this season. The series, based on an Israeli hit show, Mythological X, concerns a woman, played by Elizabeth Reaser, who searches for her soulmate after a psychic tells her that she has already met him and that she must find him if she is ever going to get married. There was no word about whether the soulmate will ever be revealed. Premiere: September 22nd at 8:30 PM on CBS
Where we left off: Ted (Josh Radnor) and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) rekindle their friendship; Barney's one-night-stand with Robin (Colbie Smulders) may have sparked feelings in him; Ted's car accident made him rethink his relationship with Stella (Sarah Chalke), which led to a proposal. What's to come: Is Stella the mother? Does she say yes to Ted's proposal? Sarah Chalke returns for more episodes in season 3, so there's always that possibility on both counts. And there may also be a possibility of a Barney/Robin relationship-if he learns to forego the sleeping around, that is.

Stargate Universe Coming Soon
SCI FI Channel announced that it has given a green light to produce Stargate Universe, the third series in the long-running SF franchise, with production on the MGM Television Entertainment show set to begin in early 2009.Brad Wright and Robert Cooper, co-creators of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, will serve as executive producers and writers on the new show. (Atlantis ends its five seasons next year but will continue in a two-hour telefilm.)
"SCI FI has enjoyed tremendous success with Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, and we're proud to be the home of the new Stargate Universe," Mark Stern, executive vice president, original programming for SCI FI, said in a statement. "Universe will continue the Stargate legacy of vibrant storylines and compelling adventures, but will re-invent the format in a whole new way."
After unlocking the mystery of the Stargate's ninth chevron, a team of explorers travels to an unmanned starship called the Destiny, launched by the Ancients at the height of their civilization as a grand experiment set in motion but never completed.
What starts as a simple reconnaissance turns into a never-ending mission as the Stargate Universe crew discovers that the ship is unable to return to Earth and that they must now fend for themselves aboard the Destiny.
The crew will travel to the far reaches of the universe, connecting with each of the previously launched Stargates, thus fulfilling the Destiny's original mission.
Stargate Universe will debut as a two-hour movie event on SCI FI. Following its premiere, Universe will assume a regular hourly slot in the summer of 2009.

Stargate Atlantis Run Ends On Season 5
Space drama Stargate Atlantis will conclude its run on Sci Fi Channel after the current, fifth season ends next January -- but the network has greenlit a two-hour Atlantis movie to run after that and says the show will live on as a network franchise. After airing on Sci Fi sometime next year, the untitled Atlantis movie will be sold as a home-video title by producer MGM, Sci Fi told Multichannel News on Wednesday.
MGM this year released two financially successful straight-to-DVD movies made after progenitor series Stargate SG-1 ended a 10-year run of first-run cable episodes on Sci Fi. MGM and the show producers are scheduled to make more in DVDs in future. A movie franchise is also envisioned for Stargate Atlantis.
Longtime Stargate writers and producers (and Atlantis show runners) Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie will write the Atlantis feature script. Other details, such as how many cast members would participate or who would direct, were not immediately available.
"We're excited to tell Atlantis stories on a bigger canvas," Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper, co-creators of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis and currently executive producers on Atlantis, said in a statement. "The successes of the two original Stargate [direct-to-video] movies The Ark of Truth and Continuum have shown us the opportunities that the movie format offers. We have plans for both SG-1 and Atlantis to remain vital as we expand the franchise."

Not much to say or see about the fall season
fewer pilots shot due to strike
The broadcast networks' new shows have been announced and will be heavily promoted. But there's still nothing much to see. Fewer pilots than usual were shot this year, due in part to the Hollywood writers strike and the straight-to-series policy gaining favour at some networks. With many rookie series only now going into production, lots of them exist as titles, concepts, scripts, stars and time slots on the schedule (all subject to change). Even more than past seasons, this fall will usher in a roster of promises and dreams.
In previous years, a TV critic could expect to preview a majority of fall series by mid-June. DVDs would arrive from each network with the caveat that "numerous changes may be made" before the airdate. These works-in-progress offered useful clues to what awaited the audience come fall. They gave critics a chance to start spreading the word about any new series that stood out

Disney Bosses: Cyrus Not Quitting Montana Show
Disney bosses have denied reports the forthcoming Hannah Montana series will be singer/actress Miley Cyrus' last - despite the teen sensation admitting it was time the show ended.Cyrus shot to fame in the Disney favourite at aged 11, and is currently preparing to shoot the third season of the hit show.
The young star - now 15 - told America's E! News that she thought it may be time to hang up the Montana mantle, as she had been working so hard on the show for nearly five years.
She said, "We're thinking this is our last season.
"I just think we did a lot of episodes. We basically did two seasons in one last year. Usually people would do one season that would be, like, 16 episodes, and we did almost 30 episodes!"
But the show's representatives have denied the show will finish after its third season, and insist they are glad to still have Cyrus as part of the "Disney family".
The spokesperson tells E! Online, "Miley said it best when she said she's delighted to be part of the Disney family. We start production on the third season of Hannah Montana on August 4 and have an option for a fourth season beyond that.
"We look forward to the Hannah Montana feature film coming to a theatre near you in Spring 2009."
