Locating Missing Money In NV
Under Nevada Revised Statutes 120A, the disposition of Unclaimed Property is a law designed to collect, safeguard, and return lost or forgotten property to its rightful owner.
Generally, most property is presumed to be abandoned if it has been inactive for three years. Wages become unclaimed after only one year.
They also offer some tips for keeping your money from becoming unclaimed in the first place:
Keep accounts active and make sure that at least every three years, make a deposit or withdrawal, have your interest posted in your passbook, or call the institution and tell them to note your call in their records. Any of these steps is considered owner activity and will prevent your assets from becoming unclaimed.
And unlike some states, there is no expiration date on your unclaimed funds:
No! You can make a claim any time since unclaimed property is kept in a custodial capacity until the rightful owner or heir can be found.
But while there's no rush, why would you wait and let the government continue to hold your money, when you can do whatever you want with it?
