Neverwhere
Ranked #21,769 in Entertainment, #265,956 overall | Donates to A Day of Hope
UK Sci Fi Series, Sept-Oct 1996, Broadcast On BBC2
This six episode series tells the story of a corporate drone, Richard Mayhew , who helps a wounded stranger bleeding on a London sidewalk, much to the dismay of his high maintenance girlfriend. The stranger, Door, is not a young homeless woman, as she appears, but a fugitive aristocrat with special abilities from the world of "London Below".
Richard is further confused by the arrival of two menacing thugs, Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandermar, who claim to be searching for their "little sister". They search his apartment, and cut the cord on his phone before leaving him with a flyer and several thinly veiled threats.
As his own personal life starts to crumble around him, Richard's fascination with Door and the new found excitement in his life compel him to follow her back to "London Below". There he meets up with a rogue, the Marquis de Carabas, and an Amazonian warrior named Hunter, who guide Richard and Door through the bowels of "London Below" in search of those who murdered Door's family ten years earlier. Richard's adventures make him question his whole life, and challenge him to fight and overcome problems of spiritual and world shaking importance.

Richard: Can I ask a question?
The Marquis De Carabas: No. You don't ask any questions. You don't get any answers. You don't stray from the path. You don't even think about what's happening to you right now. Got it?
Richard: Excuse me. I know this is a personal question, but are you clinically insane?
The Marquis De Carabas: It's very unlikely. Why?
Richard: Well, one of us must be.

Mr. Croup: He's travelled so far beyond right and wrong he couldn't see them with a telescope on a clear night.
