The new f.a.m.p.s interactive tech toy for girls was developed by Mattel, and designed to keep tech girls cool and connected. FAMPS is for ages 6 through Tween to safely "bridge the gap between Webkins and Facebook." according to a review by Kids Tech. With all the tech savvy toys available, FAMPS is also a winner in helping girls express their emotions while having fun.
Kids are learning technology much earlier today. My 7 year old Grand daughter has been playing online games since she was 5, starting with Webkins. As girls like my Grand daughter become more social FAMPS is the perfect interactive tech toy for promoting social and emotional activities.
There are 12 different figures planned to be distributed, all with their own personality and games. Even the name FAMPS, which stands for Feelings, Attitudes, Moods, and Personalities, is something new, innovative and fun!
About FAMPS and How Parents can control Online Activities
Children today, even preschoolers, feel comfortable with technology that many adults have learned only recently, especially grandparents. Watch the children with cellphones, computers, ipods and all the tech toys that's on the market today. The world of technology is constantly evolving, and our children are growing up in a very different world than most of us did. They don't think of electronic devices and technology as anything special, or any big deal. It's just there as a form of communication and entertainment.
Toy makers, and tech companies are continually coming up with new gadgets, new cell phones, and new ways to make learning fun. Mattel has released their newest line of tech toys for pre-teen girls (although many adults like them also).
f.a.m.p.s are the new tech toys for girls that allow them to interact with their friends online in a new, fun way. Now girls from 6+ have a way to share their personalities online. Girls love to play and create, and pretend to be grown-up. With famps they can create their own Online Avatars, custom screen savers, e-cards, and more. Just like Mom and Dad who use Facebook, or play online games, FAMPS also allows them to bridge the gap from Webkins to their own Facebook type networking, with their own friends whom they invite.
Good news for Parents is they set up an email account, and a password, and no one can be invited unless they approve them first. This part of the FAMPS program is password protected to ensure online safety.

Famps is easy to use. The USB plug and play e-motions ring holds one FAMP figure at a time. Each figure comes with a different game, fonts, colors, and designs for making customized e-cards, e-mails, IM's, and screensavers.After installing the software, just place the figure in the ring, and you're ready to play. The best news is FAMPS works on both Macs and PC's.

- This will NOT work on Macs anymore, especially those running Mac OS X 10.7 Lion. There is no fix. The software hasn't been updated since 2009.

- i bought this for my daughter. I have snow lepoard 10.6. I can not get this game to load. What is the issue

- I found a way to "get around it". I also have OS 10.6 on my mac mini (which the kids use), have 10.5.8 on my work G5. I had downloaded to the mini, then transferred the zip file to G5 OS 10.5.8, unzipped it, and installed. Then I put all the FAMP files in the applications into another folder, zipped that, burned it on DVD then transferred it to the mini, which has OS 10.6.
Unzipped everything and dropped into app folder...works good enough. I did get it on clearance too, but this way it at least makes me feel like it is a little more than a decoration, now. On the Mac Mini a message came up saying there is an update, but I haven't done it yet.
One game that doesn't quite work comes with bliss, not sure why.

F.a.m.p.s instillation problems
I heard a few people were having problems loading their f.a.m.p.s program so I bought the starter set, and a few other figures. I have a tutorial that will be ready in a few dayscheck back for the link with answers to your questions.
