Well done and well described. Using long tails since forever, but having a hard time keeping up with the current acceptance modes and debates. Thanks for spelling it out.

Thanks for this great lens on SEO. I'll have to reread it again. Too much information for my small brain.

Wow Greekgeek! I have been trying to wrap my head around SEO since I started at Squidoo and this is the first time it actually makes a bit of sense to me. Bookmarked the lens for the future and I am going to try and apply this to my next lens.

Very helpful. Really clarified keyword research (was going to write 'stuff') for me. Think I'm starting to get the idea.

Long tail is where it's at for quick wins and getting momentum but the high traffic keywords is something we all still strive for.
  • bhavesh Oct 11, 2011 @ 12:34 am | delete
I was just wondering about the long tail words that Google shows when we type a search term and how to capture them. Your article just demystified the whole thing, and much more. I am going to bookmark this page, come back to it often and reread it many times. And I picked up a few new tips. (Writing for the search engines *and* people? Never thought of it that way before.) Thanks for sharing!

Most of the people are not aware with the importance of long tail keywords or are not able to utilize it. This is why most of the people end up targeting the most competitive keywords in their niche when they have just started their business and thats why they waste a lot of time and effort and still don't see any results.

Appreciated your take on the latest iteration and application of the long tail. Thank you for a very informative and useful lens. I am experimenting with various SEO strategies and you have provided additional options for me to explore.

Although I've read The Long Tail, I really appreciated your perspective on it. The refresher was just right!

I especially like the way you weaved it into the long tail for Web 2.0 theory...

I'm sure I'm just restating the obvious, but you've done an excellent job of painting a bullseye on the work I need to do. In other words, before reading this lens, I had an amorphous sense of what I needed to do, but at this moment, I feel like I have a real plan that I can work!

    Thank you

This is a really fantastic lens. I was familiar with the "long tail" concept but love how you presented it. (Also, thought you'd want to know there's a small typo. Search on your page for "Jsut as importantly" and you'll catch it. It's not in a heading or link anchor text, though, so no real harm!) :)
  • JNFerree May 14, 2011 @ 8:26 am | delete
I've been a fan of the 'longtail' KW ever since I started using Micro Niche Finder.back in `09. As a matter of fact, if you Google "How to use Micro Niche Finder" you'll see why I target longtails v. 1-2 KW phrases. Being on Pg1 Pos1 for this long tail was my goal.

As usual, excellent lens and great tips :)

Excellent resource, Greekgeek. I have been taught almost since the beginning that you should re-use your main keywords as many times as possible in your lens to maximize the SEO exposure. I always strive to do this naturally, but now I am wondering if I should be doing that at all. I know that both you and Flynn are extremely successful, and you both seem to have the same philosophy about this issue. I think I might start a forum post about this issue. I'd like some opinions about the whole thing. Thanks for your always great, helpful resources!

Thanks so much for this. You really have an amazing way of putting things into focus. A lot of what you said here covered things I had intuited or "sorta vaguely got the gist of" but you really defined the concepts slowly forming from my own SEO experiences into usable knowledge and action plans. You, my dear, are a genius.
  • KarenKay Feb 17, 2011 @ 9:30 am | delete
You truly are a geek! And thank God for that! I love that you can make sense out of all this SEO stuff. It gives me a headache - but you make it sound easy! Thanks so much for all your hard work! Blessed!

Thank you! I read a lot about SEO and this is one of the most interesting and practical articles for a long long time!
And I LOVE your idea of nouny style.
  • Stazjia Feb 17, 2011 @ 6:38 am | delete
You've brilliantly explained the SEO concept of the long tail. I already knew about it but your idea of including multiple relevant phrases is something I'm going to remember and use. I'm bookmarking this lens so I can refer to it again. Blessed.
  • artyfax Feb 17, 2011 @ 3:22 am | delete
brilliant explanation of this concept. I had been doing this in a sort of half-hearted way. I will definitely be doing this for all future lenses and try to retrofit into some of my older lenses. Thanks for this, I am sure that it will really help.
  • Mujjen Feb 17, 2011 @ 2:12 am | delete
I am beginning to enjoy this! Learning new things is interesting, now I need to start putting it into practice!
