I made them the DVD they asked for and snail mailed it to them (well express). But I was wondering if all the casting agents did was tape only 4 potentials in van. and send them (DVD)to the USA, then they have to be viewed again, and not even get a part?"

I was not tall enough and not native enough to have that certain look that they are trying to achieve here for this movie."

Chilliwack is a small city about an hour's drive from Vancouver. But it may become more familiar to Twilight fans if two teenage actors from the area make it onto the big screen in the Twilight Sequel filming of New Moon.

Wayne Alexis and Lee John auditioned in Vancouver for the Twilight saga and were one of the few that not only got callbacks for later that day but whose audition tapes were sent to the New Moon directors for further consideration. Read more about their story from the Chilliwack Times here.

Representing the Pacific Northwest at the Victoria New Moon casting call were Coast Salish and Haida teens. Many would-be Twilight actors vying for the minor speaking roles were turned away from the New Moon auditions by the casting agency if they were not "100 per cent First Nations/Aboriginal". The Twilight sequel casting is specific in their open casting call in terms of validating the authenticity and particular look required to represent the aboriginal Quiluete people in Washington with scenes to possibly be filmed at a First Nations reservation.

Self described girl, gamer, geek Christa takes the time on her personal blog, The Snarky Sparrow to outline what is what like being at the Phoenix New Moon casting call Friday, February 6 which continued Saturday, February 7, 2009 as well as in additional locations across Canada.

Kat checks in February 11, 2009 on the Vancouver Sun website and reports on her experience.

"I went to the Phoenix Open Casting. Only 21 Native youths auditioned the first day. On the sedond day, I'm not sure how many auditioned, but my friend's sone was auditioner #38, so I guess they had a bigger turn out that day. He went in and asked for his name, age, and height. They had him read the Bella-Embry script, then asked him for his tribal affiliations (Navajo). According to the staff (and casting director), he did really well, so I pray he gets a part. ANY part. We were lucky that not as many showed up in the Phoenix one I guess."

It's likely producers wanted to avoid a mob scene at the auditions. Now that word has gotten out virally across the web, it'll be interesting to see what kind of turnout they get.

Where Exactly Are the New Moon Auditions Being Held?

Vancouver, Canada
Just a heads up, there are two Vancouvers. Vancouver, Washington where the New Moon open casting calls are NOT being held. Vancouver, British Columbia Canada is where the Twilight Sequel is being filmed and open casting calls are taking place.

Victoria
Victoria is on an island and accessible by ferry from either Seattle or Vancouver. It takes several hours to make the ferry crossing. Watch out for rush hour sailing waits. If you are worried about stiff competition and long American Idol type lines, you are probably better to try to audition in Victoria as more people are likely to attend the Vancouver auditions.

Kelowna
Kelowna is about a 4 hour drive from Vancouver. You can fly to Vancouver and rent a car to get to Kelowna. Or you can hop on a smaller commuter plane to fly there. Should take less than an hour. If you're travelling by car and coming from the East, since Vancouver is right on the West Coast, the farthest East location which will be most convenient is Kelowna.

The value of open auditions is that producers get to see new undiscovered talent. In their Craigslist ad they said you didn't necessarily have to have any acting experience. Bad news is that people who legitimately meet the casting producer's request for Native Americans betwen 15-24 may not get cast because the open casting call turns out to be innundated and overrun with Twilight and Robert Pattinson fans.

Most Frequently Asked Questions About the New Moon Auditions 

I'm should be in Twilight, but am not Aboriginal-First Nations-Native American should I just show up?
Casting directors do not take kindly to gawkers and fans wasting their time. Don't just randomly show up at the New Moon open casting calls otherwise you'll just embarass. Producers may resort to only holding closed auditions in the future.

I'm a quarter First Nations or part Aboriginal but am fair skinned and blue eyes, should I still apply? I am not of First Nations descent but get asked all the time if I'm a Native American or Native Canadian Indian? At the open casting call in Victoria, actors were advised if they were not 100% First Nations, they would be turned away from the auditions. See story from the Times Colonist

What about the brothers and sistas? I'm black should I apply? Again, it's a pretty specific casting call. There are such few casting calls specifically for First Nations actors so let's give them a chance in the spotlight for once. Plus I can't emphasize enough, if you're inappropriate, you ruin everyone's chances for an open casting call the next go around.
I can't make it to the auditions, can I just email or mail my audition?
Rene Haynes the casting agent has been swamped with requests. Your unsolicited emails and mail will go unopened. You will be wasting your time. Your best chance to be a part of the Twilight movie series if you are a legitimate actor is to secure an agent to contact the casting agent on your behalf.

I'm Only 12 But Look 15, should I still attend the New Moon Auditions?
Is it a child labor law or something that's keeping the producers from including anyone younger? According to the CBC, they report that in British Columbia, tweens between the ages of 12-14 can work as long as they have their parents consent.

I think it's more a question of maturity. On many Hollywood movies, actors playing teens are usually older than their characters. The reason for this is that younger actors are less experienced, have school to think about and are more mature and probably better at taking direction.

15 is probably the youngest they are willing to accept which was the case with Taylor Lautner who plays Jacob Black. So just like American Idol where they turn many talented tweens away and say come back next year, I would recommend if you're under 15 to study acting, practice then audition for the next movie in the series.
I Plan On Driving/Flying From the U.S. Do I Need a Passport To Get Into The U.S?
If you plan on driving or flying from the U.S. be sure to leave plenty of time in case of immigration, border or traffic delays. It will certainly speed things along if you have a passport to get into Canada. However, it is not mandatory to have a passport until June 30, 2009. You will need a valid ID and citizenship. So that means a driver's license. If you don't have a driver's license bring your birth certificate, social security number, as well as anything like a bank card or student card with your photo ID preferrably from a government or official source.

Ever year Vancouver typically plays host to over a couple of hundred film and television shows. Vancouver's urban, cosmopolitan setting, diverse neighborhoods and landscape provide Hollywood with many ideal production settings.

    I have not read the Twilight book, but i have recently seen the twilight movie and let me tell u i never thought i could be obsesed with a movie so much especialy at 23. LOL! After i saw the movie i went to 3 places, Kmart, target, and finally Walmart had it and i watched it 2 times that night and everyday that week. Then i went and got the New Moon book and i read it in 5 days, normally it takes me months to read a book, i couldnt put it down and im overly excited to see the movie. I have it on my calendar! U can find me on facebook, I am no where near Vancouver, I live in Pittsburgh, far away! Find me in the Burg! Keep the good movies coming! I will be at the theaters 11/20/2009!
