The Newest Discworld Book
Making Money is a newest Terry Pratchett book in the Discworld series, published in September of 2007. It is the second book featuring Moist von Lipwig, and involves the Ankh-Morpork mint and specifically the introduction of paper money to the city.
The cover [of the UK Edition] shows von Lipwig in a new suit, standing on what looks like a huge banknote next to a pug. Ankh-Morpork does not have banknotes at the moment, though it does have stamps, invented by Lipwig, which were already being used as currency.

"Making Money" Introduction
Postmaster general Moist von Lipwig, former arch-swindler and confidence man, has exceeded all expectations in running the Ankh-Morpork Post Office. So it's somewhat disconcerting when Lord Vetinari summons Moist to the palace and asks, "Tell me, Mr. Lipwig, would you like to make some real money?"
Vetinari isn't talking about wages. He's referring to the Royal Mint of Ankh-Morpork that has run on the hereditary employment of the Men of the Sheds, who do make money in their spare time. Unfortunately, it costs more than a penny to make a penny, so the whole process seems somewhat counter-intuitive.
But before Moist has time to fully consider Vetinari's question, fate answers it for him. Now he's not only making money, but enemies, too; he's got to spring a prisoner from jail, break into his own bank vault, stop the new manager from licking his face and, above all, find out where all the gold has gone-otherwise, his life in banking, while very exciting, is going to be really, really short...
"The Wit and Wisdom of Discworld"
Now, in The Wit and Wisdom of Discworld, various nuggets of Pratchett's witty commentary and sagacious observations have been compiled by Pratchett expert Stephen Briggs, a man who, they say, knows even more about Discworld than Terry Pratchett.

"Going Postal"
If you haven't been introduced to the Discworld before, you can jump right in with this one. Most of the main characters are brand new, and you will soon feel right at home. Like any other Discworld novel, this book will likely make you want to read the rest of them, but that's a risk you will just have to take.
If you are already familiar with the Discworld novels, you won't be disappointed with this one. Con artist Moist von Lipwig is a fascinating character. He has his very own way of seeing the world and he is not necessarily nice, but he is likeable, in a morbidly fascinating sort of way.
"Moist von Lipwig was a con artist and a fraud and a man faced with a life choice: be hanged, or put Ankh-Morpork's ailing postal service back on its feet. It was a tough decision. But he has to see that the mail gets through, come rain, hail, sleet, dogs, the Post Office Workers Friendly and Benevolent Society, the evil chairman of the Grand Trunk Semaphore Company, and a midnight killer. Getting a date with Adora Bell Dearheart would be nice, too. Maybe it'll take a criminal to succeed where honest men have failed, or maybe it's a death sentence either way. Or perhaps there's a shot at redemption in the mad world of the mail, waiting for a man who's prepared to push the envelope...

"Wintersmith"
The Tiffany Aching books are set on the famous Discworld, and you will find several characters taking part in her adventures, including, as mentioned, Granny Weatherwax. This gives the series a feeling of being home, to those who enjoy Terry Pratchett's other works.
"When Tiffany Aching - young witch - steps into a dance she shouldn't, the spirit of winter falls in love with her. He gives her roses and icebergs, says it with avalanches and showers her with snowflakes - and suddenly winter is all around her. All the time. With the help of the Nac Mac Feegle, first met in The Wee Free Men, and a bit of advice from witches Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg, Tiffany must put the mess right - or there will never be another springtime...
"Wintersmith" is an enjoyable read for all ages. It reads smoothly, the characters are realistic and the plot is gripping. Pratchett's fabulous sense of humor never fails to make me smile and giggle, no matter my mood when I started reading.
