Goal Setting for the New Year

Goal Setting is fun! I began setting goals and visualizing them accomplished after I read Positive Imaging by Norman Vincent Peale in 1982. I remember that one of my goals at that time was to become a grandma, live at the beach, and make my living writing. I am a happy grandma and I go to the beach often and am writing and publishing on line - so my images are becoming my reality. Fun!

Goal setting is the only way to track your accomplishments and set up a game plan. Where do you want to go? Who do you want to become?

Is this the year you will ride a horse for the first time or snow ski? Set a goal to do something wonderful in the new year! Writing the goal and making a plan gives you a head start!

And remember to teach your children to set goals also!

Set Goals

monarch13 says:

I take stock twice a year; at the New Year and my birthday (in June), then I decide what changes I need to make in my life to accomplish my goals and dreams.

OhMe says:

Goals, I guess. I was never as good at that as you!

gbenton789 says:

Goals, resolutions never work for me. For me, it's based on negative input - what I don't want. I try to focus on what I do want. My big goal is to make 50 by December 31st!

Jewelsofawe says:

I like to set goals to achieve over the next year.

Joan4 says:

Definitely goal setting with a plan of action! I am always excited about the New Year and New or Revised Goals! What did I accomplish last year?

Make Resolutions

vbright105 says:

Actually, I'm goaloluting! lol.

Margo_Arrowsmith says:

Oh, yes, but I will do them as affirmations, not what I will (or won't) do, but rather what I have done! That works for both goals and resolutions.

I set goals all the time and I find that it really helps. I agree that it is important to encourage your children to set goals too.

I'm a goal-setting addict, so I don't usually wait for New Year's to make them. (Although I do that too!) If I don't have a goal I'm working towards, I feel a bit lost, actually. Aimless. So I'm definitely favoriting and 5*ing this one. A subject near and dear to my goal-setting, list-making heart.

Another great lens and this is definitely your area of expertise. You have had your family making their New Year's Goals and Resolutions since the children were small.
