New Year's Eve Soundtrack List Features Pink, Jon Bon Jovi, Glee's Lea Michele, Jay Sean & Nicki Minaj

Ranked #1,179 in Entertainment, #14,168 overall

Music Garry Marshall's New Year's Eve Movie

It's the Year of Pink as her ubiquitous "Raise Your Glass" wins the award for 2011's song most used in romantic comedy movie trailers including Bridesmaids & What's Your Number and is now officially ringing in the 2011 New Year's Eve Soundtrack List.

Poor Lea Michele, is she destined to a career of covers as she gets assigned the traditional song Auld Lang Syne? Don't get me wrong, like Michele's Rachel Berry character on Glee, Lea steadfastly sings the song with clear passion and conviction. Then again, I can't really pity the 25 year old ingenue who gets to sing a duet with Jon Bon Jovi and play Ashton Kutcher's love interest.

The Soundtrack to New Year's Eve also includes "2012" with Jay Sean featuring Nicki Minaj. Somehow it doesn't have the bouncy catchy flavor of an end of the century classic like Prince's 1999. In fact, it sounds like a song off the last Step Up 3 movie. But if you've been following the two little English girls who sing on YouTube and have appeared on Ellen, wouldn't it be great to see Sophia Grace & Rosie paired up with Jay Sean to perform?

Besides performing "Can't Turn You Loose" with Lea Michele, Jon Bon Jovi sings "Have a Little Faith". Out of all the stars in New Year's Eve, I think I'm excited the most to see Jon Bon Jovi. Maybe it dates me, but I used to love Jon Bon Jovi when he played Calista Flockhart's love interest on Ally McBeal and for that matter, remember when Robert Downey was also one of Ally's suitors?

But I digress. Back on track with the music from New Year's Eve other songs include music from Kate York, Sophie B. Hawkins, Duncan, Goo Goo Dolls, Katie Herzig, Jacob Saylor and Charles Brown. Noticeably absent are any of the music's score by composer John Debney who who scored Marshall's last Valentine's Day movie and whose 2011 releases include No Strings Attached, The Change-up & Dream House.

New Year's Eve starring Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Abigail Breslin, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Common, Robert De Niro, Josh Duhamel, Zac Efron, Hector Elizondo, Cary Elwes, Carla Gugino, Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Seth Meyers, Lea Michele, Alyssa Milano, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Til Schweiger, Hilary Swank, Ryan Seacrest and Sofia Vergara opens December 9, 2011.

"Can't Turn You Loose" New Year's Eve

Jon Bon Jovi & Lea Michele

Instantly recognizable from the opening funky horn stabs, hey, wait a minute, isn't that the Blues Brothers theme song opening Jon Bon Jovi's "Can't Turn You Loose" on the New Year's Eve Soundtrack.

Sure is, two points for you if you guessed it right. On the 2011 cover version, who'd have thought Jake & Elwood's stand-ins would be Lea Michele and rocker turned actor Jon Bon Jovi. Somehow in this millenium, the music supervisors of New Year's Eve dropped the "I" and the song seems to have been re-titled "Can't Turn You Loose".

Jon Bon Jovi Sings John Hiatt Cover

The Lea Michele & Jon Bon Jovi Duet Is Only in the Movie

John Hiatt's "Have a Little Faith" has been covered by artists like Joe Cocker and Mandy Moore and the song sounds great whether sung by a man or a woman and the Lea Michele & Jon Bon Jovi duet heard in New Year's Eve is both heartfelt and sincere but you'll only hear it in the movie as the version of the New Year's Eve O.S.T. features only Jon Bon Jovi.

Before the New Year's Eve Movie the band Bon Jovi would perform Have a Little Faith In Me live as part of an acoustic set accompanied simply with piano and guitar.

"The Beach Song" By The Graves

Song in New Year's Eve Not on the O.S.T. cd

Congratulations to the band "The Graves" who are excited that their song "The Beach Song" made it into the movie New Year's Eve. On The Graves Website, the band laments that their last experience of writing a song for Garry Marshall, "One For Me" was a bit of a letdown as it got axed from "Valentine's Day.

End Credits | Zac Efron Dancing

Best Part of New Year's Eve Movie

I know Zac Efron wanted to change things up after doing so many High School Musical movies and musicals like Hairspray but after seeing him dance on the end credits with Michelle Pfeiffer, I really wished he would have done the Footloose Remake. He would have been awesome. I could have watched 2 hours of him dancing. Puhleez, Zac, do a dance movie with Jon Chu.

Can't Get Enough Jon Bon Jovi?

"I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You"

Since Jon Bon Jovi only gets a modicum of screen time which he shares for the most part with Katherine Heigl and the sensation Sofia Vergara, if you wanna see more Jon Bon Jovi, catch up on episodes of Ally McBeal when Jon Bon Jovi played Victor who appeared in 10 episodes from January 14, 2002 to April 29, 2002. Source: IMDb

From Season 5, Episode 5 "Heart and Soul" which originally aired March 4, 2002. Calista Flockart as Ally is torn between Larry played by Robert Downey Jr. and handy man Victor played by Jon Bon Jovi who sings the song "I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You" which has never been officially released as a single off the show or by Bon Jovi.
