New York city is the highest populated city in America. With over 8 million occupants it's a pretty astounding place to visit.

Famous for it's vast amount of shopping opportunities, it's easy to get carried away and run out of money in New York city.

Visit the NYC's Official Visitor Information Center to get hundreds of free brouchers and coupons.

Downtown Alliance - The downtown alliance offers a free 90 minute walking tour of the city. The best bit is you don't even need to make a reservation - just turn up and see the city.

Central Park Conservancy - They help visitors discover the history of Central Park with guided tours.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden - Look at flowers to your heart's content for free between the hours of 10 and noon on a Tuesday or Saturday.

The Brooklyn Museum of Art - Free on the first Saturday of every month between the hours of 5-11pm.

SoHo Scholastic Store - An interactive 6200 sq foot for kids. Free Saturday events inlcude author readings and character visits.

New York Transportation 

The amount of public transport available in New York is vast.

Taxi - Taxis are a good way of getting around. Though you will pay for the convenience.

Subway - An extremely fast way of getting around the city. The network is extensive so you won't have much trouble getting to where you want.

Bus - New York City also has a great bus network, though not quite as effective as the subway.

Of course you could just walk.
