New York Giants
Living in New York my whole life, it was impossible to resist the spectacle that is Giants football. The most storied team from this town is not only the most popular in the city and tri-state area, but also the most popular in my household. My grandfather has had season tickets for the team since before my dad was born, and we still hold them today. I attend every game that I can and went to Super Bowl XLII where we "stomped out," as Michael Strahan said, the super team of Patriots and their quarterback into the ground. Even though I wasn't alive, I love watching us beat the Bills in 1990. My parents were both at that game also. My family bleeds blue and red, and no matter how the team is doing, I will always be a Giant fan. This page is dedicated to the fans, front office, owners, and players that have turned this into one of the greatest sports organizations on the planet.
New York Giants Background
Currently, the Giants are a football organization that belongs to the Eastern division of the National Football Conference of the National Football Association. They were one of the five original NFL teams in 1925, but the only one of the original five that still exists. The Giants have the third most titles with 4 NFL Championships in 1927,1934,1938, and 1956 and 3 Super Bowls in 1986, 1990, and 2007. Fifteen hall-of-famers and five MVPs have donned the blue jerseys and represented Giant nation. The team's legal corporate name is the "New York Football Giants, Inc." to distinguish themselves from the baseball team of the same name that once called New York its home. Other nicknames include "Big Blue", the "G-Men", and the "Jints". Sometimes people call the team the "Big Blue Wrecking Crew" because that's that they were called in the 80s and 90s when their defense was led by MVP and HOFer Lawrence Taylor. Even after the Jets moved into town to share Giants Stadium for many years, the G-Men remain the most popular team in the city and it still remains that way even though their new building is called New Meadowlands Stadium.
