Improve Your Golf Game
- A common mistake that most make is to try and hit the ball too hard. A basic yet effective golf swing is about a smooth clean motion which takes the head of the club squarely through the ball. By trying to hit the ball as hard as you can, the body often falls out of position causing the head of the club to be misaligned upon impact sending your Top-Flite XL off the green (www.golf.com/apps/instruction/text/top100_home.asp).
- Focus on keeping your arms and body in position throughout the two parts of the downswing; before and after contact. By visualizing your club head creating a circle in the air, with the initial part of the downswing making up one half of the circle and the follow through making up the second half of the circle, you keep your club head on track. The goal here is not to focus on singular parts of the swing, but rather to follow the entire circular track
- Now that we have talked about the best ways for the club head to strike the ball, let's examine proper ways to grip the club. First grip the club with your left hand making sure the club is being grasped by your fingers and not merely resting in the palm of your left hand. Next, take your right hand and again grip the club with your fingers and not with your palm. The thumb of your left hand should meet the palm of your right hand, and the smallest finger of your right hand should overlap or interlock with the index finger of your left hand.
