Hi world! My name is Jennifer and I'd like to tell you a couple of words about myself. If you look at my screen name, you may guess that I'm somehow c... (more...)
Should I buy a new or a used car?
I was on my way back home from work. Just an ordinary evening, I'm completely wrapped up in my thoughts after another hard-working day. I'm taking a walk because I was sitting the whole day in the office in front of my computer, just need to stretch my legs and loosen up my muscles. I don't really notice what's going on around me, the rest of the world lives its own life...
But suddenly my eyes are wide open, I see her... red Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, my dream car. She drives me crazy with her blood-red color, streamline shape and exquisite design. It's by far the most stylish-looking auto I've ever seen in my life. When I imagine myself a filthy rich lady, I drive this very car and this is definitely the number 1 auto in my huge collection of chic cars.
"Get back down to Earth!" - a kick from my reasonable, critical thinking mind. That's when I realize that a day when I have such auto is somewhere far in the remote future. Luckily for me, I'm not the only one. What most people can afford is a used average class car. Actually, the used car market is the largest retail segment of the US economy (!). Each year dozen million used cars are sold in the US. That's the cheapest way to get the auto you need at the affordable for you price, or just any vehicle to satisfy your urgent driving needs.
But most people are not sure if they should buy a new or a used car, especially for the first auto. I have asked a couple of my friends (all with cars) this question and most of them agreed on the same. So that's what I got:
- "Basically you can't even ever tell a difference between a used car and a brand new one. They are practically the same! So go get a used one and save your money."
- "New cars break down about just as often as used ones. Even brand new cars are still being dogged by quality problems."
- "If well maintained by a previous owner, a used car will run just as well and as long as a new car. So find a trusted seller and buy a used auto, especially if this is going to be your first one. "
- "If you need a car for transport, not to show your status in life, buy a used one."
I guess that would be also true if I asked them whether they should buy a new or used iPhone.

"What's the best way to find the most suitable for you used car?" - you may ask. That's where the web has no rivals today giving you the widest range of opportunities to choose from. You simply type "want to buy a used car", "used car wanted" or something like that in the search field and start reviewing numerous options. In order to narrow your search, you may go directly to huge shopping resources, local classifieds or social shopping sites. You pick up what you need, close the deal and enjoy driving your used car (if you're lucky enough, you may find a car you need in excellent condition, and no one will even notice that it's a used one).
I also drive a used car, of course it's not my dream Alfa Romeo but I still love her because it's a reliable vehicle which takes me where I need and whenever I need. And I don't care that my car has been owned by someone else before. It is MY now. If you ask me "Should I buy a new or a used car", I would say "Be reasonable, buy a used one and spend the money for buying other useful things, like a stunning evening dress for an unforgettable romantic dinner with your boyfriend/husband."
