Newbery Medal Winners, 1980-1989

Ranked #882 in Books, Poetry & Writing, #38,146 overall

Newbery Winners From The Nineteen Eighties

Newbery Medal winning books, and Newbery Honor Books from 1980 through 1989.

This was an amazing decade for Newbery Medal and Honor Books. During this period two of the winners were poetic. A non-fiction book won the medal for the first time in many years, and two others were honor books. Plus there were many excellent novels including memorable historical fiction.

My choices for best novels (of those I've read) are Hatchet and Sarah, Plain and Tall.

Fourteen poems about insects! These very entertaining poems are intended to be read out loud by two voices. They are sometimes poignant, sometimes comical. A true joy for the heart!
