I have no idea some of these books got awards. This was a great lens and very informative.

My son recommended The Graveyard Book to me. At first glance I wasn't sure how much I'd like it, but after settling in to read I found it to be a delightful read! Not sure I would recommend it as a children's book, but for an adult who loves 'children's' literature, it was a lot of fun. Angel blessed, thank you for putting these award winners in an easy to read lens.

I have got to get ahold of that book... The Graveyard Book is one I missed reading. Earlier this month I read this years's winner, Moon Over Manifest, and it was superb! Highly recommended! Layers! Personality! Everything!

I absolutely hated The Tale of Despereaux (2004). I know one of the librarians on the Newbery committee for that year and remember asking her, "What in the world were you guys thinking?" In a few of the book's passages, I felt the narrator condoned the abuse and never went back to address how bad it was. There are too many good children's books in the world to waste time reading bad ones.

I love your lenses on the Newberry Winners. My daughter is an avid speed reader and I cannot keep enough good books around that she has not read. Great Job!

Shiloh is a Newbery Medal winner, one of the first I read out loud to my children. You'll find it on the 1990 Newbery Book list - it won in 1992.

All these pages have just 10 years at a time on them...
