Newbie Internet Marketing Guide - Part 3

The first thing you should know is your articles don't have to be perfect. It's better to have something than nothing.

Also don't get scared about writing articles, it's not like writing in school because when writing online we break many of the rules we learned in school.

Ok, with that said.. let's get into how to setup your article.

Article Layout

To start off, you want your article to be between 400-800 words.

The basics layout of an article consist of:

Introduction - what your article is about.

Body - using short sentences and paragraphs, don't indent paragraphs, add bullets to list items, add sub titles when changing topics in your article.

Conclusion - is basically a summary of your article.

To help you rank better for your main keyword phrase, be sure to include it a few times throughout the article. Make sure the title of your article includes your keyword phrase.

Also in your introduction, you want to bold your main keyword phrase. And in your conclusion, italicize your main keyword phrase.

The last part of your article and maybe the most important part is your signature file, also known as resource box or author bio. The main idea for your resource box is to get the reader to click your link to your site, affiliate program or whatever else you may want to promote.

The most important thing is to make it relate to your article. (For more information about "topic" click here) Make sure to use your main keyword phrase in the anchor link.

You can also include your name, about your business or the main benefit to clicking your link.

Just to review, your signature link is how you will be able control traffic. When creating your link, you should create a new post on your blog with a link to the affiliate program your promoting and maybe a short introduction to it.

Then use that blog post link as the link for your signature file. The best part about using your blog post is you can edit it any time you want.

A quick overview on what is an affiliate program. Probably the simplest way to explain it is that you sign up with a company, they give you a link that you promote and you make a commission on any sales that come through your link.

The amount of commission you make varies depending on the affiliate program. Also there are different types of affiliate campaigns, some companies offer commissions for CPC (cost per click), CPL (cost per lead) or the most common CPA (cost per action) action also refers to a sale.

Here are a few affiliate networks (a network of many affiliate programs to choose from)

- ClickBank
- Commission Junction
- Sharesale
- PayDotCom

These are just a few to get you started.

Now before you start submitting your article to the article directories, don't submit the same article to multiple directories. Search engines don't like duplicate content and will penalize you. This doesn't mean you have to create a completely new article. You can take one article and rewrite it several times, I recommend you rewrite it twice.

Once you have your first article created, it should only take a few minutes to rewrite it. The best way is to read the first sentence or paragraph and then rewrite it in different words. Another way you can change it is using a Thesaurus.

Submit the original article to ezinesarticles.com and the submit the rewritten articles to the other directories. The reason for this is ezinearticles.com is the best directory to submit your article to and the search engines really like it.
