Three cheers for Newcastle.
I think Newcastle Brown Ale is one of the best beers out there. It's been one of my favorites for years now. There is nothing I like better than going to my local pub and having a nice pint of Newcastle fresh from the beer tap. Add a club sandwich to that equation then you really are talking about paradise, but that's another subject in itself. Please let me know if you agree with me that Newcastle Brown Ale is the best beer out there, or if you have one you think is better. I'm open to everyone's opinion, as long as you clearly express your opinion and not just just leave a stupid comment trying to push people's buttons.

Newcastle Brown Ale is the best beer ever!

Newcastle is wonderfully smooth beer with a hint of sweetness. I love the taste, but it's too rich for me to drink very many. It's pretty different from Guiness (which I love too) so I wouldn't even compare the two.

New Castle is a great brown to just kick back and drink all night, but if you get the chance to try some Samual Smiths nut brown Ale then you'll know what the BEST tasting brown is all about.

Where have I been to miss this? Of course it's the best beer ever!
I was brought up with it as a child - my Grandfather even smuggled it into my milk when I was a baby (hic!). I even gave a bottle every night to our Boxer dog. Boy did we have fun together pub-crawling!

Great beer, love to order it at Barley's Tap Room here in Asheville :)

I like Newcastle the best also. I think people jump on this Guinness bandwagon trying to be trendy.

I really like Newcastle also. Everyone always goes on about Guinness, I think it's way over rated and too thick. I want a beer, not an alcoholic milkshake. LOL

I'm gonna have to favor this side since there's less of you ;) Newcastle definitely at least ties for a first spot place, though.

I've had Guinness, and yes it is good, however I just don't like it as much. As far as wheat ales go, I don't really care for those too much, I just don't really care for citrus like flavor. To me it's like if I wanted a citrus flavor, I would have a mixed drink with orange juice and not a beer.

To me Newcastle has the perfect balance of being a top of the line beer, while maintaining it's status as an everyman's beer. Out of all the beers I have had in my lifetime, Newcastle has a flavor that sticks out above the rest. I know I look forward to Friday night when I go to my local pub and have a nice somewhat warm (not too warm, but not too cold) Newcastle while eating a club sandwich. MMM MM MMMMM, my taste buds are rolling around now just thinking about it. I don't know, I think the best way I can sum up Newcastle is that it is a beer, the way a beer should be. Nothing more and nothing less, and to this everyman, that's all I need.

I have drunk N.B. once but much prefer half a dozen pints of Guinness and have drunk it for 56 years. I'm as fit as a butchers dog.

Have you ever tried Sunderland's Double Maxim - that shit's the bomb! (I'm not just saying that 'cos I'm a makem)

Reg_Brittain says:
When I was in college, I found Newcastle and thought it the bomb! Then, microbrews exploded. Over the years, as I have tried many a craft beer, I have been quite fond of many beers, but not Newcastle.
Today, I would not even say I like Newcastle. I am not even sure when I last drank one, but I recall thinking it bland.
Try the range of wheat ales, cask conditioned ale (in the UK it's called "real" ale), the ales brewed by Unibroue of Montreal, and of course Guinness, and reconsider your position.

Newcastle is a very good ale, full of flavor and very smooth, but I still prefer Stouts and doppelbochs.

I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to say Guinness beats out Newcastle.

I will try it and get back to you. But I've always preferred stout over ales.

Guinness for me! I do drink beer, although I don't call Guinness of Newcastle 'beer'. When I have a 'real' beer (lager or pilsener) I drink it the Australian way - icy cold. 5* and bottoms up! Posted October 01, 2008 |
