Save time and create more great lenses!

Hooray! The new dynamic dashboard is here! It offers some great new ways to keep track of projects, identify lenses that need a little help, and take advantage of your most popular lenses.

Megan's got the official scoop on the new dashboard here and here. But I wanted to whip up a lens full of neat dashboard tricks, if you will, and less obvious treats that you should be sure to check out.

View your lenses with the lowest traffic

Every lens deserves some love, and boosting the traffic of your lowest ranked lenses can do a lot for your overall Squidoo experience. With the new dashboard tools, you can view your lowest traffic lenses and make sure to put in a good word for each of them.

View your lenses with the highest traffic

If your lenses are getting mega traffic, you must be doing something right! You can use your new dashboard tool to filter out the highest traffic lenses. Popular lenses are a great opportunity to reach out to more people, and even direct them to your more obscure ones.

Plus, if you can pick out your most popular lenses, chances are good your readers would love to see more lenses about the same topics with a slightly different angle. Bonus!

View lenses that are making the least money

Every lens has the potential to earn money, for yourself OR as a bonus for a deserving charity. By bringing up a list of your lowest earning lenses, you can go through each and decide which great moneymakers would make a good addition.

View lenses that are making the most money

You know a good thing when you see it! You can learn a lot from lenses that are performing well. When you view your list of top earning lenses, not only will you get warm fuzzies from all those commissions you're generating, you can take cues from your success and apply it to other lenses. (Or just show off how awesome you are!)

Label your lenses

If you loved the Firefox extension that allowed you to label your lenses, you'll love our new dashboard that lets you add and organize your lenses by label!

Labeling your lenses is a great way to keep track of categories, but did you know you can also use labels to organize the working process of your lenses? Here are some ideas:
  • When you find a lens that needs some love, use a "to-do" label to queue it for future updates.
  • Some lenses need constant attention. "Daily update" labels will remind you which ones to check on.
  • Sports, news, and business are just three examples of topics that are ever changing. Schedule dates to update related lenses weekly.
  • Promise your readers a weekly update? Label lenses with the day of the week to find which ones need that special update.

What do YOU think of the new dashboard?

I do like the new dashboard, although MOST of my experience has been using it.

Thanks for these ever needed reminders about checking lenses. Some days, I just don't get the time to really look hard at my lenses, but these tips will help in my organization. Oh yeah, the sticky notes too!
