Plasma TV Consumer Electronics

What is a plasma TV? Well it's a television that can give you the sharpest images and most vibrant colors available on today's television. When used with today's HDTV (high-definition television) you can get the best television experience you've ever had. Throw in the large wide screen version and surround sound system with high-end receivers and you will surely be in TV heaven. Too bad they aren't cheap, but if you have the means, you won't regret it.

You can mount a plasma directly on the wall since they come in a flat screen format. Below you will find wall mount accessories and TV stands that can be used with your plasma television. There's no reason your large screen TV has to take up a lot of space anymore.

The plasma TV science is not explained easily so I will try and simplify my explanation. Plasma is actually a scientific term. It refers to the gases neon and xenon which will glow when exposed to an electrical field. After liquids, solids and gases, plasma is sometimes referred to as a fourth state of matter. Pretty cool I think but does it make sense?

Generally color TV's rely on 1000's of small pixels. The colors red, green and blue make up your 3 colors which comprise 1 pixel. All other colors in the spectrum are created by adjusting the levels of each of the 3 colors. If you get real close to your TV, which you shouldn't do because it's bad for your eyes, you can see these pixels. The smaller in size and greater in quantity of pixels, the better your picture will be.

The individual pixels in the plasma TV are different than other televisions as they are made from 3 tiny containers of an inert gas, like xenon or neon. There are hundreds of thousands of the tiny containers on your basic plasma TV. They are all in between 2 electrically charged plates. When plugged into an electrical current, the plasma glows. Your cable, satellite, antenna or whatever you use to receive signals tells the plasma television how to reassemble the picture at 100's of times per second.

Different combos of colors glow as the computer inside controls the electrical field. Your brain processes all of this information as a continuously moving image. The plasma TV has a lot more pixels than just your average television producing a picture that is sharper and more vibrant with each pixel combination reproducing and exact hue and not a quick approximation. This produces colors that are richer and deeper.

The only thing you need to be very careful of with any plasma TV is don't EVER let anything hit it. You can damage your plasma TV forever if a hard object hits the screen and damages the gas-filled tubes. They will instantly lose their glow and you will be very sad. If it can even be fixed at all it will be very expensive as it's a very time-consuming process to replace the damaged elements. The most common fix is just replacing the whole screen. If insurance or extended warranties are available, even if you never buy them, this may be the time to start. And just like a neon sign, your plasma TV will not last forever since the gas inside will eventually start flickering instead of burning. But hey if you are one of those people who likes a new TV every couple of years, the plasma TV is perfect for you.
