The New Romantics
The 80s music genre - New Romantics sprouted out of the UK's winter of discontent.
The New Romantic movement, like punk, had it's roots in working class backgrounds. Where New Romantics were different was that they wrapped themselves up in the glamor they had seen on television. The musical industry was suddenly about the whole package - music, fashion and performance.

The biggest New Romantic band internationally were the Birmingham boys known as Duran Duran.

Spandau Ballet
Spandau Ballet & Duran Duran were the UK's biggest New Romantic super groups and were seen as constant rivals. Spandau Ballet were not as successful overseas however as they were in their homeland.

Human League
The Sheffield based Human League had been performing before the New Romantic movement began, but easily morphed into this New Wave genre.

Punk turned New Romantic
Adam & the Ants had their roots firmly in the punk movement when they began. A little push from Malcolm McLaren combined with Adam Ant's natural showmanship and Adam & the Ants easily assimulated the New Romantic mantle.

- It makes me want to get out my leg warmers and parachute pants. I know these songs oh to well and listened to them as I sprayed my hair up really high with Aquanet Super hold. Love it - great job. I give you 5 stars from the 80's
