About Newstex and Blog Syndication
Basically, we bring in content from different blog sources, format the content making it easier for our clients to digest (without touching the editorial integrity of the post), add value to the content by including features such as categorization fields and stock ticker symbols (making it simpler for, say a Wall Street trader, to search by the public company's ticker symbol) then deliver the content into our clients products in a way our clients need such as XML or RSS. Most clients, like LexisNexis, Cengage Gale, and ProQuest are populating the content into their information databases for their subscribers to search from. We are also delivering blog content to Amazon's Kindle e-book device, although there, a user subscribes to a specific blog's feed.
Here are just a few examples of how someone might be using your content: companies looking to see how people are responding to their product launches or a competitor's products/ services, entertainment PR firms tracking their clients' reputation in the blogosphere, law firms gathering information for their cases or looking to uncover critical content for their clients, Wall Street analysts researching industry trends or companies in their sector, governmental agencies or lobbying firms tracking sentiments on certain hotbed issues, and academics looking to share a blog post in their students' coursework and wanting to ensure that bloggers' copyrights are supported. All we require is the full text of every post via RSS and that you're consistently posting at least 2-3 times per week. More information about our technical requirements can be found here: http://www.newstex.com/blog/Blog_Technical_FAQ.pdf.
We pay you a 30% royalty of the gross revenues based on your royalty pool participation for each product your posts are included in, maintain a hyperlink to your homepage in our dateline and send monthly reporting which at a minimum provides you the client's name and the corresponding royalties from that client. With little effort on your end, you benefit with increased exposure, as well as generating an additional revenue stream for your blog. Examples of licensed blogs include: felixsalmon.com, Infectious Greed, Blogwrite for CEOs, Gothamist, The Volokh Conspiracy, Gizmodo, Michael Geist, Jonathon Schwartz's Blog for Sun Microsystems, Atlas Shrugs, Gawker, TalkLeft: the Politics of Crime, Kevin, M.D. - Medical Weblog, Mashable, Cyberjournalist.net and Blogcritics.org. A list of our publisher partnerships can be found on our website at: http://www.newstex.com/publisher-search/Blogs/?by=name. If you click further into "View Sample Story," you'll have a better sense of how we work with the content.
If you've reviewed our Technical requirements and are interested in having your blog syndicated with Newstex, please send me a message at ncelli@newstex.com and I'd be happy to review your blog to see if it meets our requirements. If you have a video blog with original video content, please contact Michael Ellis at mellis@newstex.com.
