Okay, now I am making that beer part up. But not really! We do sport the second oldest family owned brewery in the country. August Schell Brewery. So with Festivals & Beer in mind here is a line up forOcktoberfest! Since I moved back home 6 years ago, the weather has been nothing but perfect for the downtown festivities! Prosit!

Minnesota State Capitol for a Day

New Ulm, along with only four other cities, captures the spirit, beauty, history, natural resources and industry to represent all Minnesota has to offer in this special sesquicetennial year.

Oktoberfests Around The World

While Oktoberfest in Munich remains the largest, oldest and original Oktoberfest, beer festivals do have a tradition in other parts of the world.

According to Wikipedia, the largest Oktoberfest outside of Germany is the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest in the twin cities of Kitchener and Waterloo, Ontario, Canada (700,000+ visitors).

Other cities claiming to be the largest Oktoberfests outside of Germany include Blumenau, Brazil (600,000+ visitors, 1,000,000+ in 1988 and 1992) and Cincinnati, Ohio, United States (500,000+ visitors). Since September 2007, even Montreal boasts its own Oktoberfest.

It would be great to have a collection of all Oktoberfests in one handy list, so I'll go ahead and start it. Everyone is welcome to add a link to other Oktoberfest homepages.

I was born in Neu Ulm and when I googled sister cities, found your town. I would love to retire there! If we ever visit MN, I'll know where to stay. Found you through your comment at Military Brats.
