New Year's Eve is my birthday, so it's usually a fun day. This year I was sick and spent it in bed. Thanks for explaining the traditions in different countries. Happy new year!

brilliant post and interesting lens thanks for sharing. We have celebrated many NYE in London but always wanted to visit New York for the ball dropping.

Lovely lens ~ it's nice to learn what traditions people hold from various cultures. Generally, with us it used to be getting together with family and friends, going to a dance and enjoy food and drink and of course each others' company. Happy New Year! **Blessed by a Squid-Angel**

This must have taken a lot of research! How interesting. And I see you have out town's New Year's tradition included--Flagstaff's pinecone. Not that it's a regular pinecone. It's a large, lighted, five-foot by seven-foot, gold and silver aluminum pinecone weighing more than 80 pounds. And when we say it's "dropped," we mean it's lowered from the balcony of the historic, downtown Weatherford hotel. I think we're actually going to go downtown for the celebration and "drop" this year, ourselves.
